Time for a tutorial!!!

Hey everyone!

Today is the end of my first full week of blogging. Other than the "technical" difficulties I had yesterday I have been able to post every day so far and I am so excited about the different themes. Do you like them?

I really like to make lots of craft projects, handmade cards, gifts, scrapbook pages, and I love showing other people how to make these items, too. I haven't filmed a video tutorial in a while. My craft room/laundry room is being remodeled so it's been really challenging to get anything created and posted. However, for today's post I am going to create and post a video tutorial for you all. I hope you will enjoy visiting each week for

Every girl needs a bag...

Hey, everyone!

Do you remember the invitations I recently shared for the diva themed birthday party? Well I wanted to put them all in a gift bag but I didn't have one. It was too late to go and buy one at the store, so I just decided to make one myself and here it is:
I got the designer paper from Big Lots in a patterned paper pack. I took my Stardust Clear Gel Pen from The Angel Company and traced over the letters "flirt" and "girl's rock" to add some shimmer.

I added a few flowers that I had purchased from the Dollar Tree. I buy a whole bundle and then take them all apart! I added a ribbon handle with my Crop-A-Dile (from TAC).

I hope she likes her gift bag and invitations and that she has the BEST diva-licious birthday party ever!

Kid Friendly Saturday

Hey, everyone!

Today I am sharing a special project with you all. I hope my mother-in-law doesn't read my blog because this is one of her birthday presents! Saturdays, here at Hoosier Card Angel's Creations, is all about Kid Friendly projects this month! Today's project would be GREAT for both big and small kids! Here is what I made:

I took a little pink canvas tote, available at your local craft store, and using my stamps from The Angel Company and our Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad I stamped these images onto the front of the bag. I love having rubber stamps that are unmounted so I could place the bird and flower together on my acrylic block and have them positioned exactly where I wanted them.
The bird and flower are from a Hostess Level A Stamp Set in our current Serendipity Street magalogue. You can earn this set for FREE with any $100 party. The sentiment is one of my favorite stamp sets. It is retired now but I love it and will use it for a long, long time! It's called Treasure Seeker and there are so many fabulous sentiments in this set. I jazzed up the image a little with some of my Stardust Glitter Gel Pens. You know how I love shimmer!

These bags come in a package of three. They were very inexpensive and come in different colors. My mother-in-law loves pink so that is why I chose this bag for her. If you have never stamped on fabric before I would definitely recommend giving it a try. You could practice on an old t-shirt first if you want. You can stamp on socks, hats, shirts, bags, aprons, ... you name it! Hope you have fun crafting for your kids, with your kids...or even if you are just a kid at heart!

No Stamp Crafting

Hey, everyone!

I have challenged myself to share 4 projects this month, once a week, each Tuesday that has NO stamping on it! That's right! No stamping!! Gasp! I know!!

Sometimes it's good to have a new challenge, something different from the normal way we create, to broaden our horizons. Creating projects with no stamping on them is definitely getting me to think outside the box! It was a lot of fun, too!

The first thing I thought of was to stamp on candles! Oops! No stamping...okay what about a coaster notebook? I do a lot of those so that wouldn't really be stretching it! Hmmm, okay let's see what I have on my "Items To Alter" shelf....well plenty! I looked down and saw some round coasters and thought...oh wouldn't they make cute door hangers? Not sure that is the proper name for these, but you'll see what I mean:
I just grabbed some paper using the favorite colors of each of my children. The ribbon is their most favorite colors. To personalize these I wasn't sure what I was going to do then I thought about my Cricut, of course!

I used my Mega Scalloped Circle Clever Lever Marvy Punch from TAC. I used the Crop-A-Dile from The Angel Company, as well to punch the holes for the ribbon and for the holes in the scallops. I also sanded the edges of the coasters with our great little sanding blocks! Super fun! Super easy! Wouldn't these make fun party favors? I think it would be really cute to make these for gifts, too. Something personalized with the recipient's favorite colors, their initial...and whatever else you'd like to add. I think it would be sweet to have a photo on the front, or the back!

I hope I have inspired you to take a break from stamping and see what you can create without the inky fingers! It might be interesting! I'd love to see what you make today!

My wild streak!

Hey, everyone!

One of the nurses I work with at the hospital asked me if I would make something for her daughter to give to her teacher at school. I showed her some of my projects on my blog and she liked the notepad holder I had created with a gift box. I decided to make something a little different but along those same lines and here is what I came up with:

Her daughter's teacher likes animal print so I had fun using this zebra print!

I filled up this little treat holder with peppermint candy.

I used my Corner Chomper to round the bottom corners of the sticky note holder. I used my Bind-It-All to hold it together and added black and white ribbon to finish it up.

Fall Party Goodies

Hey, everyone!

I have been so busy lately but it's been a good kind of busy! I wanted to show you some of the projects I made for my daughter's fall party at school. This is the gift and card I made for Kadesia's teacher. I used black cardstock, some retired designer paper from The Angel Company, orange cardstock and Premium White cardstock from TAC. The stamps are from the Sweet Goodies stamp set.
I made the mini pizza box with my Scor-Pal and I loved how easy it was to make! I filled it up with some Dove chocolate with fall foil wrappers!!

This is a close up of the card.

We had a guessing game at the party. I had an empty peanut jar so I cleaned it up well and decorated it, then placed 37 pieces of gum inside. The winner got to keep the jar of bubble gum!

My scalloped punches were perfect with the Sweet Goodies stamp set! I love it for gift-giving! The front label wasn't wrapped all the way around the back so the kids could see how many pieces of gum were in the jar!

Last Class Goodies

Hey, everyone!

Last night was my final class to teach at Memory Lane Scrapbooking store. It was bittersweet! I love teaching so it was so much fun for me to share some card projects with local women who want to learn more techniques but it was also a little sad knowing the store would be closing. The ladies that took my class all expressed an interest in having more classes with me so I am excited that another opportunity has opened up to me!

I wanted to show you all the fun little goodies I gave the ladies who came to my final class. I made a little bag topper with some white cardstock and attached my business card to it. I popped a mini-sticky note holder in this little baggie for each one along with an ink pen with my name and contact information inside the barrel! They all enjoyed that!

I am very excited to be so busy this month! My calendar is getting very full! I will be having a card class in my home coming up soon and a scrapbooking class this month, too. The 3 for 3 Hostess Club is starting this month and I am very eager to start that again this year! If you've been watching my ticker you will notice I am going on my trip in less than two weeks now! It will be fun I am sure!

Back To School

Hey, everyone!

I saw a video tutorial on Angie Juda's Chic 'n Scratch blog for a Post It Notes Organizer and decided to make one for my daughter's second grade teacher. She starts school today so I made this last night. I hope she likes it! Mine is a little different than the one Angie shows but just a little!
I added a monogram for her teacher using Orange Peel Stickles available from The Angel Company. I had punched an "s" using my Sizzix machine so I used that for a template and carefully traced the opening with the sparkly glue! It's one of my favorite ways to add sparkle and shimmer to nearly any project! I used the Super Circle Punch and Mega Scalloped Circle Punch for the monogram layers. You can also purchase these punches through TAC.

Here is the inside of the organizer. The left side has a pocket which I think is super cute! The right side of the organizer holds a sticky note pad and ink pen.
Here you can see the cardstock I placed inside the ink pen is also the same cardstock I used for the base of the organizer. I thought it would be a fun look!

The bottom right side of the organizer is stamped with a retired SOTM. I thought it was appropriate since she is an elementary teacher...seeing "little" people all day! Then there's also the fact that this is a "little" something for her....and sometimes just knowing someone thinks of you can mean so much!

I will share some photos of my daughter with you all tomorrow. It's so hard to believe that she is already in second grade!!! I am crying! Where does the time go???? Take care and I'll see you again tomorrow with more pictures and projects!

Birthday Gifts!

Hey, everyone!

Yesterday was a crazy busy day here at the Owens' house! Not only was it day #2 of the garage sale but Kadesia had a friend's birthday party to go to and then the pageant. I am sooo glad Mini Miss is over! I am NOT a fan of pageants and absolutely did not want her to do this but we still had a pretty good experience overall... I'll share some photos with you tomorrow about that! For today I wanted to show you what I made Kadesia's friend! I made this little gift tote bag for her, personalized with a monogram! It's up on pop dots! We sell those in our current TAC catalog and I absolutely love them! I included a matching pen and a sticky note holder. The card is 4x4 which is a favorite size of mine! The image and sentiment is Dear Friend from Serendipity. Happy Birthday is stamped inside using the Trendy Greetings stamp set. The monogram is taken from the Scriptybet stamp set and the circle is from Circle Sampler. These are all from TAC, of course! I used my Tombows to color in the image, stardust glitter gel pens for the balloons and paper pieced her outfit. The skin is colored with my copic markers.

Happy Father's Day!

Hey, everyone!

I'd like to wish all the dads out there a very happy Father's day! If you have the opportunity, be sure to hug your dad and tell him how special he is and that you love him!! I shared a scripture with you already this month but it doesn't hurt to repeat it:

Today I am sharing a project with you that I made for my father-in-law. The card is 4x4 (finished size) and all the items were found in my scrapbooking stash (racing theme).

Paul and Javan baked these chocolate chip cookies today for him. Don't they look yummy? I ate THREE of them! Oh my!!!

Apples and Oranges

Hey, everyone!

I have had pen pals since I was in elementary school. I have kept up with a couple of pen friends for several years but most of my friendships via snail mail sort of tapered off through the years. Knowing I have written to pen pals all over the world, my daughter asked me over and over if I would get her a pen pal. I asked a friend of mine if she would be her pen pal. Debbi Doodles is a dear friend of mine and lives in another state. She was more than happy to spoil my daughter with sweet little notes, fun letters, pictures, and lots of presents! Kadesia is always so happy to hear from her. I signed my daughter up with some pen pals over at SplitCoastStampers recently. She is excited about the new pen friends she is making. This week she will be making 5 of these cards to mail to her pen pals! I made a sample card for her. The paper is a retired TAC designer collection called Finger Paints. I love the vivid colors! The stamp set is the HELLO SUNSHINE that I am so crazy about and check out the scalloped edge using my new cloud scissors that I can't stop talking about! LOL The ink I used is all Palette Hybrid: L'Amore Red, Viridian Leaf and Orangerie.

I went into Old Navy on Thursday to kill some time before Javan and I had lunch with Paul. I saw these adorable nail files for only $1.50 per pack. Have you seen these? They only had one package of orange left when I was in there but several of the apple so I got one of each. I thought they would go great with this card and each of Kadesia's pen pals can get a slice of orange and a slice of apple! The package says to "Snap off a segment and file away!" I think they are super cute! They will make a fun little tuck-in for her friends!

I have some exciting (and a little bit sad....) news to share with you all that happened over the weekend! First of all on Saturday Paul and I had gone down to the campsite where my husbands' parents were camping out with our kids. We were picking Javan up and while I was finishing eating Kadesia said, "Look Momma!" I turned to see her whizzing by on her bicycle and she said "No training wheels!" Well I was so excited but I felt a lump in my throat and hardly could find my voice to tell her how proud of her I was! I remembered too well her bicycle wreck and how scary that was for both of us! But I know I have to give my babies roots and wings...just hard to watch them flapping their wings so early! You know? So for the other exciting/sad news...LOL! Yesterday my mom was giving Javan a hair cut and afterwards decided to put him in the tub so I could get him into his pajamas! We've been sitting on the potty all last week and I just wasn't sure he was quite ready because he would only tell me AFTER he had already gone in his pull-up! So my mom and I were in the bathroom with Javan and he was standing up in her garden tub and he said PEE MOMMY! I asked him if he wanted to sit on the potty and he said yes so I let him but wondering if it was just for "fun" again! LOL I saw him shiver and then HE DID IT! He peed in the potty like a big boy! I am so excited and super sad! He may have only had that one victory right now and maybe won't really be ready for a little longer but I am not sure I am ready. My mom tells me it is time but my heart says NOT YET! He's my baby, my last baby! I just took some of his baby toys out of his toybox for an upcoming garage sale we're having and with each pile of clothes, it tears at my heartstrings. I know he will be 2 in August but that just can't be right! Where does the time go? I've always been told to savor all the moments because it doesn't last and believe me I have tried! I hold on for dear life to every precious word and moment that I can!! It is so hard to watch my beautiful babies grow up and depend on me less and less but I take comfort in knowing that they need me now and will for a while longer...so I will thank God for blessing me with these two beautiful children and pray that I don't mess up too bad! I know I don't always get it right but I sure want to!!!

Gifts for Mother's Day!

Hey, everyone!

Today's StampTACular Tuesday Challenge is a little different than usual. Today, Christina and I are making mini albums for our mothers-in-law. I know they will enjoy receiving these on Mother's Day! Here is the mini album I made.

My mom told me she wanted me to make her a dishwasher magnet that said CLEAN and DIRTY. I thought OKAY! So here it is...

Gotta love those Stardust Glitter Gel Pens! The pig stamp is from a former TAC Stamp of the Month. I sponged him in Burnt Umber for a dirty look. I used my Chestnut Memory Marker for coloring in the word DIRTY and the "mud" beneath the pig. I used my Pink Brights Tombow marker to color in the pig and my Stardust Glitter Gel Pens to create some shimmer. I hope she likes this magnet! Tomorrow is my Scripture Challenge and Christina will be sharing her page on her blog, too. I have a few more things to share with you, too, so be sure to hang out with me again tomorrow!

Tickled Pink!

Hey, everyone!

Today's project is a gift set. The little box holds the sticky note holder perfectly! I haven't given this away yet but I wanted to show you how easy it is to make a small gift that can really mean a lot!
I created this little box just by playing around with different measurements. I thought it would be fun to add some of the Winterberry paper and my shiny satin ribbon.
I am not sure why it appears flourescent but the pink scalloped circle really isn't like it looks here in real life! LOL
The monogram letter is stamped with the Scripty Bet stamp set in Belle Rose ink and then gone over with the pink Stardust Glitter Gel Pen. The scalloped circle is embellished with my Extreme White Gel Pen. The notepad cover is embellished with the Stardust Glitter Gel Pen in faux stitching around the circle and doodle dots on the scallops. I hope you like it!
