Motorcycle Diaper Cake & Recipe

Hey everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Easter holiday!

I volunteered to make a homemade carrot cake with homemade cream cheese icing and a batch of deviled eggs! I even purchased a couple packages of miniature cupcakes for the kids!

Here is the recipe I used:

Carrot Cake
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2-3 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups Wesson Oil
3-4 cups grated carrots
4 eggs
1 cup pecans or walnuts

Sift flour and dry ingredients (except sugar).
Shred carrots.
Grease and flour pan.
Preheat oven to 350 F.
After sifting, mix everything in one bowl on medium 2-3 minutes.
Bake 1 hour.

Cream Cheese Icing
1 pkg. cream cheese
1 stick butter
1 pkg. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Cream together.

I wanted to share a couple of photos with you all. There were three ladies having babies within weeks of each other at work. One of my co-workers was a first-time mom and I wanted to make her a special gift that she could enjoy but that was practical, too. So I found a tutorial on YouTube for an adorable motorcycle diaper cake and watched it SEVERAL times before I finally got the courage up to try it. Guess what? It was so easy! Thom does an excellent job showing each step of the process and I made it right along with her. Go check out her channel. She makes adorable diaper cakes!!

HAPPY EASTER!

Hey everyone!

This is one of my favorite times of the year! Not because it is the spring season, although that is a wonderful event after a rough winter! No, I enjoy this time of year so much because of the new beginning and times of refreshing that always coincide with the resurrection of my Savior Jesus Christ!

I am so thankful that over 2,000 years ago, a man named Jesus came to this earth to die for my sins to set me free. The stripes He bore on His body was for the healing of mine! He took all of the shame and reproach that I deserve and in exchange gave me everlasting life! He is not dead! He is not in the tomb! He is risen and I am rejoicing!!!!

My daddy died on December 29, 2013. He is in paradise with Jesus today! My daddy is cancer-free! He is not disabled from a stroke. He is able to walk, run, jump, and wrap both arms around Jesus to thank Him for what He did at Mt. Calvary! My dad is finally able to experience what he lived his whole life to do...be in the presence of our Savior!

Heaven is sweeter to me with my loved ones there. I am looking forward to missing the torment of hell. I am eager to talk with the saints of old and see the beauty of heaven. I want to see an angel. But more than all of that, and even if none of that happened, I want to see Jesus! I want to kneel at His precious feet and thank Him for what He did for me. 

You see, Jesus saved me! He forgave me! He loves me! He blesses me! He helps me! He encourages me! He lifts up my head! He promotes me! He protects me! He heals me! He touches my mind! He carries me! He is with me!

Do you know Jesus Christ like that? I promise you that you will never, ever regret knowing Him. He is so amazing! He is so wonderful! He is so sweet and loving and kind. He wants to be the Lord of your life and He wants to live in your heart! If you only could see Jesus for who He really is and not what someone else says about Him, you would run to Him and fall at His feet and ask Him to save you, too! Don't wait! It's not too late! You can ask Him today to save you and He will do it!

Today is Good Friday and it is so good to know that Jesus died for me! He didn't stay on the cross, though. He didn't stay in the tomb, either! He is resurrected and sits on the right hand of the Father! He is alive forevermore! Hallelujah! HE IS RISEN!!!!

Buckets full of fun!

Hey everyone!

Welcome back for another

I am sorry I didn't get to share this with you all yesterday. It's been a little bit crazy lately! I wanted to share with you some buckets I got recently on clearance at Kmart. I bought 3 buckets similar to these:

They were leftover from Easter at Kmart.Only three buckets were left so I bought them all. I purchased two tall ones for 40 cents and a size smaller for 30 cents! I purchased two cans of black spray paint for 97 cents each and for under $4 I will have three buckets that are just the color I want to go in my new scrapbook room! YAY!!!

I love shopping clearance. I look at everything in a whole new way now that I know how to alter items to make them just the way I want them to be. My mom will spray paint the buckets for me. I have never tried and I don't want to mess them up. I may try it with her help but we will see. What thrifty items have you purchased recently?

Crafting With Kids

Hey, everyone!!

I made 20 little bunnies for my daughter's 2nd grade class. She was sad to learn that her class parties were over after Valentine's Day and asked me to make some St. Patrick's Day bookmarks for her class. The kids all enjoyed them! So, with Easter coming up, I had shown some ideas to Kadesia of things we could make together and she just loved this idea. I got the nuggets at the store...no problem there! I purchased the extra creamy milk chocolate with toffee and almonds. Then I cut 20 pieces of Kraft cardstock (1"x3"), sponged each piece and added Wonder Tape to them. Then I punched out 20 circles for the faces, sponged again, added a faux rhinestone for a silly nose and used my Hazelnut Memory Marker to draw the face. (Please don't laugh!) I know you can't help it! Pitiful aren't they? LOL Next I punched out 20 bigger circles to trim out the ears and sponged those. I added 20 pom poms for tails! My husband helped me finish these little guys! It was a lot of work! She said everyone liked the bunnies!
Hope you like these little guys. If I had a bunny face stamp I could have saved some time and made them a lot cuter. I think our pom pom tails are bigger than Wanda's, too! LOL Hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Happy Easter

Hey, everyone!

There are so many wonderful reasons to celebrate today. The main reason is because my Savior lives! I believe Jesus Christ was crucified, buried in a borrowed tomb and rose three days later! Because He lives I can face tomorrow! What a wonderful message of hope! I was going to share with you the scripture I chose for the Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge 09 this month on Thursday but time got away from me. It is a wonderful verse for today's celebration so I will share it with you now.

In this passage of scripture, Jesus is speaking to Martha regarding her brother Lazarus who died and was buried 4 days before. Jesus resurrected Lazarus' body that very day and it was just an awesome example of the power of God! Of course it makes me think of my uncle John and my grandparents, aunt and uncles and other relatives who have fought the good fight of faith, run the race and made heaven their home. With the passing of each precious family member, heaven is much sweeter! The best part will be seeing Jesus and thanking Him for the supreme sacrifice He made to pay for my sins! These pictures were taken at the Creation Museum during our trip on Spring Break. I love the picture of the empty tomb! Click on the photos to enlarge them so you can read the text if you want.
Our Easter is going to start with me and Paul taking our children to church. We will come home and I will finish preparing dinner. My mom and dad, brother, sister and her children will be coming over to eat dinner here with us. We're going to have an Easter egg hunt and I have a back up plan in case of rain! It will be a joyous time. I made some things for my husband's friends' two children.
I put a cardstock alphabet sticker on each candy bar holder to personalize the candy for the kids.

This card is a 3x6 piece of Tutti Frutti paper that I scored at 3" and added the HAPPY EASTER sentiment from the Trendy Greetings stamp set stamped in Burnt Umber ink. I used the chicken from the Hey Chick stamp set using Sunflower Palette Hybrid Ink. I punched it out and layered it onto the Orange designer paper from Kaleidoscope Brites. I then put that layer onto a scalloped square I punched from a piece of yellow cardstock I had. This is all on some foam tape and added to the front of the card along with some ribbon from my stash. I colored the chicken in with my Orange and Yellow Tombow markers and then I adhered some yellow Fun Flock to the chicken on the shaded areas. He is so fuzzy and my son just loves touching the "chickies"! It's so funny!

I put two Easter egg popcorn balls inside with a belly band around each. I stamped HAPPY EASTER from the Trendy Greetings stamp set on the center of each. I added the candy bars and the card I made. This is all sitting on top of some Easter grass inside this cute little Easter bag I made them. The chick is fuzzy with yellow Fun Flock. We sell the Fun Flock in our catalog in many different colors and it would be great with those lamb, sheep, chicken and bunny stamps we have! Enjoy your holiday and remember why we celebrate! The tomb is empty and Jesus is alive forevermore!

StampTACular Tuesday Challenge

It's StampTACular Tuesday and that means it's time for another Challenge using only TAC stamps. Our theme is not WELCOME SPRING like I said yesterday, because that was actually last week's theme! This week our Challenge theme is Easter so Christina and I made Easter cards. She showed me a sketch HERE that I used for inspiration. Here is my card:
I used Kaleidoscope Brites paper from The Angel Company and the two stamp sets are Trendy Greetings and Fantasy Flourishes. Funny Bunny Card

Hey, everyone!

Spring is finally here! My daughter is on Spring Break from school but it has been one of the worst ever! My uncle passed away right as Spring Break was beginning and then we had the viewing and funeral. That was all so hard and continues to be something I am trying to cope with. Then Paul got very sick on Tuesday and then Javan got sick that afternoon. Later on he started feeling better, I thought, and then Kadesia got it on Wednesday. Javan started getting sick again Wednesday night and then I was sick yesterday. Javan got sick again last night...poor little guy. Paul and I have cleaned the carpet and furniture and bathroom so much that I am surprised there isn't holes in the floor! Ugh! So we are hoping all is well with our trip and everyone can remain in good health. We are going to the Creation Museum. I will be sure to share more about that tomorrow!

In the spirit of spring...I thought about making an Easter card. I got my inspiration from my Angel Sister Vicki and fellow Angel Joani. I hope you like my card. The designer paper is Kaleidoscope Brites. I thought it looked springy and reminded me of Easter eggs when they are all decorated! The brown and pink cardstock is from my scraps downstairs. I punched the bunny face with my Scalloped Circle Punch. I free-hand cut the ears and attached them with a brad. The eyes and nose were things I had in my embellishment stash and then the mouth and whiskers were drawn on with my Sharpie markers.
I wanted to do something a little different so instead of flipping half of the card up, I just folded down the bunny ears and stamped a HAPPY EASTER greeting from the Trendy Greetings stamp set. My family loved it and Javan said BUNNY! so at least you can tell it's a bunny right? LOL

FunShop FUN!

Hey, everyone!

I am so sorry I have been absent from the blog world a little bit this week. I know that many of you like to check in each day to see what projects I have been working on. I have been really busy but it's been a good kind of busy!!! LOL I think I mentioned here before that I have been organizing my craft space downstairs and it's coming along so well! It feels great to be able to find what I need in no time at all! I love it! It's been hard work and it takes a LOT of time but I am getting there and I am very excited. I may post some pictures this weekend to show you my progress.

I have some fun cards to share with you! I think they are fun anyway! LOL So, let me just start off by saying that Saturday afternoon I went to Carolyn's house for a FunShop. Carolyn is Shelly's mom (Hi, Shelly!!) and so it was a lot of fun to see everyone again and meet one of Shelly's sisters that I hadn't met before and her father, too. Carolyn has a beautiful home and made some yummy food! It was snowy and slick with ice and rain mixed in some but we all made it safe to the FunShop and back home again! I want to show you the hostess gift and card I made Carolyn. She really liked it so that made me really happy!

This is just a small basket made from the Winterberry paper pack that I love so much! The handle is the same paper with a white cardstock base. The chick is from the HEY CHICK stamp set and is stamped in Burnt Sienna, colored in with my yellow Tombow marker from the Brights collection and then I added a little bit of yellow Fun Flock to make the chick fluffy! I used my Clever Lever Scalloped Square punch with Premium White Cardstock and added yellow doodle dots with my Stardust Glitter Gel Pen.
This is the waterfall card I made Carolyn to thank her for being the hostess. She loves pink and so I tried to go all out with the pink paper! This is also from the Winterberry paper! The stamp is Fantasy Flourishes with Prisma Glitter added for more bling! I stamped it in Belle Rose first then adhered the glitter! The "pull" sentiments are from the Interact stamp set. This is a really fun set!
This is the card, opened some to show how the waterfall card looks when you pull it down! Carolyn really liked this! Yay!!! I hope you do, too!

Carolyn wanted to make a St. Patrick's Day card and an Easter card for her party so I came up with two cards that were really simple and easy to make more than one since she wants to make cards and give them out. Here is the Easter card I made to demonstrate:

The yellow patterned paper is from the Gentle Beginnings set. I love, love, love that paper! I bought it to use with baby papers but I have used it for so many other things since! The "Easter" sentiment is one of our current Gift With Purchase stamps you get FREE with any $30 purchase. The chick and "Peep, Peep" sentiment is stamped in Burnt Sienna. The "corn" is using the Speckles stamp set and Sunflower ink. Then I added my yellow Stardust Glitter Gel Pen to each speckle for some bling. This chick got some yellow Fun Flock also. It was so much fun to see everyone trying to use the Fun Flock for the first time! My, what fuzzy chicks! LOL I love it!!!

I know it's kind of blurry but this is a close-up so you can see the glitter corn, LOL, and the fuzzy chick!

This is the St. Patrick's Day card I made to demonstrate:
I stamped the 4 leaf clover from the Celtic Images stamp set. The horseshoes I stamped on the Willoughby cardstock using the Wild West stamp set in VersaMark. I used the green Stardust Glitter Gel Pen for the clovers and the horseshoes. The white doodle dots on the black scalloped circle were made with my Extreme White Gel Pen. I added some Prisma Glitter to the main 4 leaf clover image. I think it came together well! It was so fun to see everyone's ideas on how to make this card! So fun!!
I didn't add a sentiment but I will later! The GWP stamp we have in our catalog right now would work great, but so would the Trendy Greetings stamp set. Of course, you could always make your own!

I had some kits left over from the FunShop because I always try to make extras. Kadesia asked me if she could make a card, so how could I say no? LOL She had so much fun and I think she did a really great job! My daughter just got accepted into a new pen pal group over at SplitCoastStampers and she already has one pen pal that she loves dearly so you know who will be getting some of these cards! This is my daughter's version of this card for her pen pals:

She didn't want hers to open like a book, she said. She wanted it to open a "different way" so this is her version! I think it is really sweet!
She loves that glitter, can you tell? LOL

Hey Chick!

Hey, everyone!

I realize Valentine's Day was only a few days ago and St. Patrick's Day isn't even here yet, and I am not one to rush the seasons; I feel they come and go fast enough as it is. However, I have a project that I want to share with you. It's really fun and actually turned out differently than I originally planned! Ever have those kinds of projects? But this turned out pretty cute, anyway, I think! LOL

This is my little Easter Basket! I think it would be so cute with some Easter grass and eggs...my friend Christina suggested putting hair accessories, socks, and other small gifts inside. How fun! I think I will!!!

This is the basket on the side. I placed a coordinating piece of cardstock on the ends to hide the side flaps.

I used some really fun paper from the Tutti Frutti SWIC paper pack (V-826). The piece I had left over was 8"x8" and I scored it with my Scor-Pal (F-358) at 1" and 7" on one side and then at 3" and 5" on the other side. I stamped the chicken and sentiment from the Hey Chick stamp set (T-2260) in Burnt Sienna Hybrid Palette Ink (TT-197). I colored it in using my Tombow markers (brights F-01) and added shading with the gray Tombow marker (F-07). The circle is punched with the Super Jumbo Circle Clever Lever Punch (D-73) and the orange cardstock is punched out using the Mega Scalloped Circle Clever Lever Punch (D-700). The holes on each scallop were made with a paper piercer (G-702). The scalloped circle layer is raised up using the Circle Pop It! Pop Dots (D-89) found in the catalog.

Our family!

Hey, everyone!

What an awesome time we had Easter morning! We had a wonderful time worshiping God and remembering the sacrifice Jesus paid for our sins. It wasn't just that, though. I also thought about the relationship He wants to have with me now. The fellowship He longs for that reaches further than forgiveness of sin and healing all my infirmities. I also have a direct connection to God that allows me to be in His presence when I am hurting, or lonely and He's always there to cheer and celebrate right along with me! He didn't just die on a cross (which was awesome enough) and He didn't just arise after three days (which is marvelous enough) but He also seeks us out to save us, set us free, and give us life MORE ABUNDANTLY! What a mighty God we serve! He's much better to us than we deserve and I am so glad that I know Him...and even happier that He knows me!

I felt so blessed to be sitting in that sanctuary, praising God with my husband and our children that the LORD blessed us with, and to know that no one was going to arrest us for praising God, or kill us or persecute us. My heart ached for those in the other countries who just do not have that same liberty and I just wanted to say, "Forgive me LORD for the times I take for granted that I can serve you and love you openly. Forgive me for not going to church every single time the doors are open and doing more to further the Kingdom." There are those in other countries that do not have padded pews and heating/air conditioning to keep the temperature nice all year long. There are no fancy programs and special rooms for kids to learn about the Master. There are no elaborate stages full of decorations and instruments with everyone wearing fine-tailored clothes, and yet they will GO anyway and they will SEEK GOD anyway and they will FIND HIM IN SPITE OF ALL THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE! If only we could have a heart to love, seek and dedicate to the things that please God more than the things we choose to do instead, we would find a deeper level of spiritual growth that we never knew existed.

I want to share a picture of my family with you. My husband and children are so very precious to me. The honor to be Paul's wife and a mother to Kadesia and Javan is more than I deserve but yet God chose me to serve in this way. I mess up a lot and I have to pray a lot, trust God a lot and rely on Him to help me do all that He wants me to do and be who He wants me to be. It's hard not to compare myself to other wives and mothers who seem to have it together and always look amazing and their kids always look perfect! I often wonder how they do it! How can they always know what nutritious thing to cook for meals or prepare for snacks? How do they manage to look so good? Sometimes it's all I can do to find the hair brush to throw my hair into a pony tail and rush out the door driving from one appointment or event to the next. But then I just repeat my mantra that has become my VICTORY VERSE since breaking the bone in my hand. I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST AS HE STRENGTHENS ME! Philippians 4:13 And then I stop sinking in the sea of doubt and fear and I am finally able to simply rest in Him and rely on His strength to see me through!

New Do & Woo-Hoo!

Hey, everyone!

I went to get my hair cut today and didn't realize I was getting it colored, too! My mom had made my appointment for me. I love my hair!! The color is very subtle and nice!! (Thanks, Peggy!!!) Here's a picture of my new 'do:

As many of you may know, I am passionate about reaching out to others who are suffering with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. I send cards to children and adults who are going through the toughest fight any of us could ever face and that is the fight to SURVIVE!

I have been a part of some really great things that happened around the world and in other nations, without ever leaving my hometown. It's so amazing what God can do through you when you let Him! It's all to His glory and His alone!!!! I will continue to do the things I've always done but I wanted to do something on a local level, too. So this year I am forming a team for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. I am looking forward to having a FUNdraiser soon with all the proceeds going to the local ACS. I will post more next week with all the details! So check back often...you won't want to miss this!

I hope that you enjoy the Good Friday holiday, whether you are working or not. I am going to reflect on the amazing sacrifice my LORD made for me and how He not only died for my sins, arose from the dead, took the keys to death, hell and the grave and now sits at the right hand of the Father, but He loves me enough to have a personal relationship with me. He doesn't care about what color I am or my gender. He doesn't ask me how many trophies and medals I've won. He just wants to love me!! I want to know so much more about Him. I know the Word of God and have all my life. Now in this season of my life, as an adult, a mother, a wife, a daughter, sister and friend, I just want to know the God of the Word: my Creator, my Savior and my Friend so much more!!! Do you know Him?
