Bookmarks!

Hey, everyone!

I shared my awesome bargain on all those books yesterday so I thought I'd make a couple bookmarks today! I made an orange one! (gasp!) I created a blue and purple combo, too, for my sweet friend, Christina! She reads a lot so I know she will like this!

After I took these photos and edited them, I decided to add doodle dots to the smaller scalloped square, too. I also added doodle dots to the purple bookmark and it looks so pretty! The ribbon, chipboard and rhinestones were things I already had but the rest of the supplies are all from The Angel Company, including the scalloped square punches!
I took a piece of chipboard and punched out two Giga Scalloped Squares with my punch. I inked the front and back of the orange one using Palette Hybrid ink Orangerie. The purple one was colored with my purple Tombow marker from the brights collection! I used two pieces of Hip Hop designer paper from The Angel Company. I took my Mega Scallop punch and punched scallop squares in the Hip Hop paper. I then punched four 1½" squares from the same paper pack but using a different design. The flowers are attached to the front with a glue dot. I added a faux rhinestone to the center of each flower; a clear one for the orange and a purple for the blue flower.
I wish you could see these beads in real life! They are so pretty! The bead I chose for my orange bookmark has gold sparkly flecks in it. Soooo pretty! The purple bead has a pretty shine to it, as well. I have a lot more bookmarks you can check out HERE.

No Stamp Crafting

Hey, everyone!

Today is Tuesday so that means No Stamp Crafting! I found some double-sided paper in my stash and created these 4 Corner Bookmarks. Two of these bookmarks are a little bit bigger than the other two, as I was experimenting with different sizes. Take a look:

Kid Friendly Saturday

Hey, everyone!

It's already Saturday! This month has gone by quickly for me with all the fun I am having since I decided to have a theme each day of the week! I am already thinking of new themes for May. Any suggestions? I will reserve Sundays for my Scripture Challenge still yet, and Thursdays will continue to be my Christmas Card Challenge posts but I am open to suggestions for the rest of the week!

This month, I have dedicated all Saturday posts to be Kid Friendly ideas! I know that my children love to play with my crafting supplies. My son is 2 years old and my daughter is 8 years old so finding things we can do together can be challenging. My kids haven't made any of these with me yet but I have made a lot and they love them! I am sure they would have so much fun making their own bookmarks!

For some reason I am loving pink! I bought a new pink purse that I kept wanting and finally just went ahead and got it! My eye is just drawn to pinks lately!! I have NEVER been a big fan of pink but I guess I am changing! LOL Doesn't this sweet little bookmark look great between the pages of The Angel Company's Serendipity Street magalogue?
I took a jumbo paperclip (available in the craft section of most stores), punched two scallop circles out with my Mega Scalloped Circle Punch from TAC. I used my Super Jumbo Circle Punch, also from TAC, to create my faux embossing for the background. I took my sweet flowers (Frugal Friday tip) and placed them together with my glue dots. I added a faux rhinestone to the center and voila! a sweet and springy bookmark!


These are so fun to make. They are quick and easy to do and I love giving them away! All the materials here are so inexpensive but what a sweet bookmark it becomes! Hope you will make some of these, too! Want more inspiration? Check out my other bookmarks here, here, here, here, here and here.

Hey, everyone!

I want to show you something I made in just a few minutes from start to finish! It's a bookmark!! First let me talk about the journal. This journal is one I purchased in 2006. I was in a journal round robin where we each wrote in each other's journals for one week. I love the idea because it really tells me a lot about my friends, things that they may not have otherwise mentioned, gets written down in this journal and it's a wonderful little peek into their daily lives. I loved the colors in this journal. I am not usually a big fan of pink but it just looks really pretty witht he brown and green and slightly off-white letters. I used to journal a lot and really need to get back to it. Trust me when I say it was my therapy, my medicine, sometimes my lifeline...journaling is good for the soul!

I decided I would start journaling again but this time just for me. No round robin challenge. No timeline to finish. No pressure if I miss a day...just a place to record my thoughts and feelings whenever I wanted to. I wanted to refresh this journal but wasn't sure how and then it hit me...make a bookmark! So that is what I did. The colors in the More Mimi double-sided paper pack were PERFECT for this fun project! Take a look:
I chose the PEACE sentiment from the Tag Tidbits stamp set because that is what journaling gives me: PEACE! I can rest, think, ...function better when I have journaled! I clear my head of all the wishes, thoughts, to-do lists, dreams, goals, challenges and frustrations I might have. It's all on paper and I can finally breathe again! LOL

The More Mimi tag is mounted onto a piece of the double-sided More Mimi designer paper and then attached to a satin ribbon so it can keep my place in the journal! I hope you'll try this, too! It's a lot of fun and it didn't take long. During this time of year, people are hurrying and worrying! What a wonderful gesture to create a little journal and bookmark for your neighbor, coworker, friend or family member! Let me know where I can find your creations, too! THREE FOR YOU!

Hey, everyone!

Thursday night started a flurry of activities that was just the beginning of a full weekend of running! Do you have times like that where you feel like you meet yourself coming and going? I did manage to get in a little crafting time. I needed some help on each of these projects; something was just missing! My friend, Christina, came to my rescue once more! She's such a great friend...if you know her you love her and if you don't you're really missing out! She's awesome!!! She is busy with things of her own and yet she still finds the time to help me out again and again! So, thank you, Christina for helping me!!!!

The first card is a birthday card for my cousin who celebrated her birthday February 28. I hope she likes it. I am in the green mood since it's March now and I always think of St. Patrick's Day and the colors that go with that. The stamp set is ICE CREAM and it's such a wonderful set. The sentiment is from a retired GWP stamp. So you see you can use these stamps for so many wonderful things even after they are retired.

This card is for my uncle John. We are praying and believing God for a miracle!! Things look worse now than ever but God can heal him if it's His will. This card features GOOD TIMBER. The verse says:
Good timber does not grow with ease; the stronger the wind, the stronger the trees. -I. Willard Marriott

If my uncle were a tree he sure would be some good timber by now! Please say a prayer for him and my aunt Debbie and their two sons and family. I know that it would mean so much to them and it means a lot to me, too!

The last project was going to be a card but I decided the verse said all I needed to say and I turned it into a bookmark!

Tara's blog is one I found while going from one blog to the next and so on...LOL She has a project on her blog of some wedding favors in the shape of a cake that is so beautiful! Stampalicious is so very talented that I absolutely love to check out what she is doing! I think you will see why she gets this award from me after you visit her!
6. Nichole Headdy
Nichole's projects are always inspiring to me. I love the way she thinks! She will take an ordinary item that any number of people use every single day, like a coffee filter for example, and she will make it into the cutest thing you ever saw! I only wish I was on Nichole's gift list! LOL She is amazing!
7. Teresa Hooten
Teresa is a lady that once I spoke to her for the first time, I instantly thought of her as a friend. She is such a wonderful person and her blog is full of amazing and interesting things. I am not sure if I am more excited about what she posts or just seeing things through her eyes, but I do love it! You will, too, so go check it out!

My daughter has been wanting to make a craft with me since the beginning of this week. I told her we would but she is such a social butterfly that I almost need to make an appointment to hang out with my 7 year old! LOL So, finally this evening we scoured through the various video tutorials I have saved in my favorites and she finally chose a project! She wanted to make a bookmark for Miss Rosie whose birthday was yesterday! She did the assembling of this but I did help her with adhesive and knotting the ribbon. I think she did a great job! I used the Belle Rose palette ink spot (TT-193) to cover the chipboard that I punched out using my scalloped square punch (D-705). The papers are scraps I had in my drawer and the flower is one I had purchased at my LSS. The jeweled center is a stick-on jewel from a pack I purchased at Hobby Lobby. The ribbon and clear square hardware is from my stash, also. You can watch the tutorial by Dawn Griffith that inspired us to make a bookmark HERE.
What kind of birthday card could I make for my sweet Rosie than a trio of roses? This is a stamp that came from the Dollar Tree here where I live. I got it for $1 and if I count cost per use as a $1 each time, then trust me this stamp is MORE THAN paid for! I really like this stamp a lot. I have used it often and colored it in with my Stardust Glitter Gel Pens (F-462) or Tombow Markers Bright set (F-01), but for Christmas my sweet husband bought me some new Bic Mark It Permanent Markers and so I colored these flowers and leaves in with those. I shaded some and I think for my first attempt, it isn't too bad. LOL I then added a few dots of our Prisma Glitter (A-287) because I absolutely love to add shimmer on my cards! You cannot tell it from the photo but the roses are up on pop dots (D-89) and the pink square measures 2¾"x2¾" and the card base is 3"x6" and scored on the 3" line using my Scor-Pal (F-358)!

Fundraiser Photos

Hey, everyone!

I wanted to share some photos with you today that are from the fundraiser I was asked to do. I got a phone call from my upline asking if I would be interested and that it was about 2 hours north of me. It's for a good cause: American Cancer Society Relay For Life, so I thought, 'Why not?'

I got on MapQuest (not a recommendation, trust me!) to get directions to the school where the fundraiser was going to take place. Thankfully my brother drove me up there and I was able to sleep on the way. The week was hectic for me with sick kids, a teething baby, and poor sleep habits trying to get things done. I got 2 hours of sleep before having to pack up the car and head for the big event.

All in all, the event was a nice one, but it was a long drive and financially not feasible to do again. However, I did meet really nice people.

The first photo shows my banner, custom-made and really pretty IRL, with all my fun stuff spread out. My brother was sitting at the table using his laptop. You can see the flower pens I had displayed with some of the small note pads, breast cancer awareness suckers, gift bags/purses, bookmarks, and coasters.
This photo shows all the donations other Angels gave me for my fundraiser but I didn't receive them in time, so I took them to this one, but unfortunately no one wanted to buy any of it. All proceeds would have gone to their Relay For Life event . They commented on how nice the cards and altered jr. legal pads are.
This end of the table was for my make 'n take. We were asked to bring a free make 'n take for all those who attended the event. Several came to the table and wanted to make the little treat holders. It was a huge success! Many had never used the Scor-Pal or Crop-A-Dile before and really liked that. We used glue dots instead of tape runner or scotch tape to hold the ribbon inside (the ribbon handles) and many liked that approach a lot!

Here's a close-up of the trick-or-treat holders inspired by Angie Juda. I used the retired chocolate chip stamp from SWEET AS PIE stamp set and the trick-or-treat sentiment was a $1 find at Michael's. I used our brown marker to color it in and added a shiny mark with the white gel pen. The ink is our Burnt Umber palette ink.

I made 5 of each of these colors. They are little post-it note holders, held together with a ribbon in the top corner. They open like a little book. Many liked them, also.

The best seller for us was these jumbo bookmarks. There was a cute little girl there who enjoyed reading books, her mommy told us, so her grandma got her several bookmarks. The Elmo was probably my favorite.

The last photo to share with you today is the hostess thank you gifts I gave to Sherry and Kim for asking me to come to the fundraiser. I appreciate their willingness to have someone there from The Angel Company. I hope that everyone had a good time and I am very glad I was invited to attend.

I got the idea to make these from Angie Juda. My friend Hannah gave me these fun circle notecards because she wasn't sure what to do with them. I held onto them and after tweaking the instructions to fit this particular circle card, I was able to make these cute little totes in no time! I filled them up with chocolate! I used my Sizzix machine with my Lollipop alphabet and some glitter cardstock to make a monogram bag for each of the coordinators for this event!

I have some craft events coming up soon so the plus side is that I will be able to use what didn't sell at this event for the next ones coming up. I won't have nearly as much to make so I am excited about that! LOL

Class Results....

Class is in session!

Hey, everyone!

Who's ready for the weekend? I am very excited about this weekend! Friday I am going to a long-term care facility where I will be teaching some of the residents how to make two really fun projects! I will show you how to make them, too! And then of course Sunday is my baby boy's first birthday!! WOOHOO!!! This first year has really flown by! I will be giving away a Birthday Party in a Box and on Saturday I will actually be showing you what that looks like....so keep watching! You still have time to enter to win! Okay, so I have chosen two really fun projects that I think the residents will enjoy making...whether they are men or women. I know that space is usually limited somewhat in their rooms, so I have chosen items that won't take up much space, can serve as decor and will be functional as well. We are doing a coaster sticky note holder and a jumbo paper clip bookmark. Would you like to make one for yourself, a teacher, a friend, your church secretary, or members of your book club? I think the possibilities for giving these items are truly endless and remember Christmas is coming sooner than we think (I know! I know!) and these would make terrific stocking stuffers or gifts for kids' parties at school.

Let's make the jumbo paper clip first. It's so simple and fast! You can make a bunch in no time. First of all you will want to purchase the jumbo clips. I believe you can get a dozen clips in a package. I picked mine up in the office supply section at Wal-Mart, but you can get them anywhere you want. Next you will want to grab some of your scrap paper and some punches. You can also embellish them with ribbon, buttons, brads, etc. The sky is the limit. Grab your double sided 3M foam adhesive or whatever you choose to use and it's time to assemble. In my sample I chose a burgundy piece of scrap cardstock, punched it out with my Creative Memories star punch that I have had forever. I used the biggest star on the punch. Then with my glittery designer paper scraps, I punched another star with the smaller star on the punch. They nest together so well. Use what you have, though, no need to go buy something special for these...unless you really want to! (wink) And I also just took some curly ribbon and added it for more shimmer and bling! Simple. Now you can make one or four or ten...and then show me! Leave me a link to yours in the comments section of this blog!

Now on to the coaster post it holders! I have plain old chipboard...it came from the cardboard-like piece that is in the bottom of a box of forms. My friend gave me a whole box of them and they are great! You can use coasters like we have on page 108 of our TAC fall/winter 2008 catalog! I cut my chipboard to 4" x 4" and the same with my designer paper. You can round the corners if you want, but I chose to leave mine plain since I didn't want to add more to the project if someone has limited abilities in my class. I chose a feminine color scheme/theme for one of my coaster sticky note holders and a little more masculine one for the other. We'll have some men join us, too, and I don't want them to feel like they couldn't make this project because it looked too girly! LOL So, by just adding minimal embellishments, a button rather than a flower, I think it would appeal to men, too! Check out my flower! I added a glue dot in the center, then pressed it into some glitter (A-287, p. 120) and it looks so pretty!
To make this project, just adhere your 4" x 4" designer paper to your coaster cut at the same size. Next you will cut a piece of coordinating paper (mine shimmers) to 1¼" x 5/8" (but you can adjust the size for what you need. I used a strip of Wonder Tape (p. 121) to adhere this small piece to your large binder clip. These also come in a box of a dozen. I got them at the same place as the jumbo paper clips. You can add ribbon, a button, or any embellishments you want to the binder clip at this time. Then you just place your sticky note pad onto your coaster near the top and hold it on with your binder clip. And it's that easy to make a really fun project! BLOG CANDY!!!

I want to thank all of you that have stopped by Hoosier Card Angel's Creations to see what new projects I have been working on and the latest happenings with my family and friends. I love the comments and new friends I have made through this blog! I hope you all enjoy visiting here as much as I love sharing with you all!

Most people that know me will tell you that my absolute favorite holiday out of the entire year is INDEPENDENCE DAY! I love the 4th of July!! It's a wonderful time to celebrate with family and friends, gather for a cook-out in the back yard with burgers and hot dogs and my mom's awesome potato salad!!! It's so exciting to watch the big bursts of color lighting up the night sky as the fireworks are on display!!! BUT, the best part of all, is when we can take a few moments out of our busy agenda to remember WHY we celebrate and WHO we should thank for our FREEDOM that hasn't come cheap! Do you know a veteran? THANK THEM!! Do you know someone who is putting their life on the line right now fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and parts unknown? THANK THEM! PRAY FOR THEM! NEVER STOP UNTIL THEY ARE SAFE AT HOME!!!!!

Bookmarks

Hey, everyone!

I had a lot of fun making up a few of these jumbo paper clip bookmarks on Monday afternoon. I put one of these in each package I mailed to those who requested a catalog and more information about The Angel CompanyTM . I hope you will enjoy these!
