CAS Birthday Card

Hey, everyone!


Today I will share you with the fourth and final card we made in our card class this month. I think it turned out so pretty and it's my favorite! I wasn't sure what design to go with for the last card but since the other cards were a little more detailed I decided to go with a CAS (clean and simple) card and I'm so glad I did! Take a look:

The base is Premium White Cardstock, layered with black cardstock, then another piece of the white. The sentiment is from Trendy Greetings and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The scalloped squares are Marvy Clever Lever punches and I added doodle dots with my Black Tombow marker and my white gel pen. The stamp is a purchase with purchase stamp which was embossed with black embossing powder after being stamped with Versamark. We used an embossing buddy to keep the stray powder away. We heat set it with the embossing heat tool and I absolutely love it! The final shimmer was added when we traced the sentiment with the Stardust Clear Gel Pen. That pen is fantastic... a definite must-have!

Operation Write Home: Just A Note

Hey, everyone!

Yesterday I shared a couple of cards for Operation Write Home. I used the same designer papers and cardstock but these two cards are a different design. Each piece of designer paper is 1" squared. The brown and blue square mats are 1¼". I used my George cartridge with my Cricut to create the ovals in the center of the card. The sentiment is from Trendy Greetings from The Angel Company. I stamped it with Palette Hybrid Reflection Blue ink.
The sentiment was outlined with my favorite pen... my clear Stardust Gelly Pen for a little shimmer. It has never flaked off since the glitter is in the ink so I am hoping this is safe. OWH requests no glitter that can flake off be used on the cards. I definitely do not want to risk their safety so the rest of the cards I am going to share with you this week will not have shimmer on them. (Gasp!, I know!) LOL

I sponged a little Reflection Blue around the edges of the inner white oval. I love that I can get these shapes on my Cricut. It definitely saves me money from purchasing various size punches! Thanks for looking! Have you made some cards for OWH yet?

Quick and Easy Easel Card

Hey, everyone!

Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting two sisters, Betty and Kathleen, for a little stamping fun! What wonderful women they are! Their mother is so precious, too!! Betty had asked me about showing her The Angel Company catalog and magalogues. She had also wanted to see and try out the Scor-Pal. You all know how much I love my Scor-Pal!! This card is a very quick and easy card to create with the Scor-Pal and so much fun to give, too!

The paper is from TAC and is called Amberley Grace. Isn't it beautiful? I love the soft colors and thought it was too pretty to cover up with an image!

We stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from Trendy Greetings in Noir Palette Hybrid Ink. The white circle measures 1¼" and is stamped with a sentiment from Tag Tidbits. The blue circle is 1½" and is popped up. The "Celebrate" sentiment is from Little Cupcake in our new Serendipity Street!

I really enjoy using that stamp set a lot! The center "celebrate" and the "it's your day" sentiment along with the "Happy Birthday" phrase all were traced with the Clear Stardust Glitter Gel Pen to add plenty of sparkle! The cardstock base measures 4" x 8" and is scored at 2" and 4" with the Scor-Pal.

We interrupt the usual Wednesday posting....

Hey, everyone!

I have a card class today in my home. We're making 4 cards and I hope they have as much fun creating them as I did! I know this is supposed to be my usual Wednesday Kinda Sketchy post but I decided to share this with you instead.
This is a Faux Pinwheel card. The sentiment says "hello there" and it is from Tag Tidbits by The Angel Company. The designer paper, Amelia, is from TAC, as well.
I had a lot of fun creating this special card! It's a Joy Fold card featuring two stamp sets in Serendipity Street. The cupcake is from Little Cupcake and I used my Stardust Glitter Gel Pens to add the shimmer!

When you open it up, it says Cupcakes make everything better! This sentiment is from For Someone Special. You get 8 of these sweet sentiments for only $5.95!! The paper is Reece which is on special this month! You buy one pack and you get another one free!

You know how much I love the More Mimi double sided designer paper we carry! This is a really great technique to use this paper with. It's an Origami Faux Shadow Box fold. Super easy to do! The sentiment is from Celebration Time and stamped in Belle Rose ink. I added some sparkle with the Stardust Glitter Gel Pen.

Mother's Day is next month and I know exactly who I want to give this card to. In real life it is super shimmery and I love, love, love it! The butterfly is from Butterfly Swirls. I stamped it on Angelee and paper pieced it, then fussy cut it out. I added some Scrapper's Floss to the back of the butterfly to replace the antennas I cut off. I colored it with my black Tombow marker. Love that I can do that with my white Scrapper's Floss. The sentiment is from Trendy Greetings and I used the clear Stardust Glitter Gel Pen on it, too. The butterfly is up on a pop dot for added dimension. I curled the wings up and inward slightly. I love it!

Family Traditions

Hey, everyone!

For those of you who know me well, you know that for me St. Patrick's Day is one of two of my favorite holidays of the year. I look forward to St. Patrick's Day for months! I can't wait for it to come. I love it! My kids laugh at me as I talk "Irish" and joke about them being leprochauns. They are mischievious! LOL When Kadesia was a baby we started a tradition for her to help me bake cookies. We'd make cookies with green frosting, or green sprinkles! This year she wanted to make a cake! A green FunFetti Cake! So at 9 p.m. that was what we did!! LOL
They are saying SHAMROCKS! instead of cheese! LOL

Here I am with my little leprochaun Javan! He insisted we call him Coach today! He's got basketball on the brain since he's been watching his sister play Upward Basketball. It's over now but he will continue to think about it and talk about it for a while!
Here's my two favorite guys! Aren't they cute in their St. Patrick's Day shirts? Javan let me know, "You t'ant pinch me tuz I am wearing gween!" That happens to be his favorite color, too!

This little pouch is one I shared before. I just love that cute Tilda sitting on the cloud! I stuffed it full of Jumbo Paper Clip Bookmarks for Kadesia to pass out to her classmates and teachers. I love using The Angel Company's Willoughby designer paper for St. Patrick's Day. It is perfect!

These bookmarks are quick and easy to make. I really love giving them away. Everyone loves them! I encourage my children to read and we enjoy lots of summertime visits to the local library. I think we may make some bookmarks for our summer reading soon!

This is the hostess thank you card and gift set I made for June Lamb. She had her FunShop today and it was wonderful! She made a delicious Irish lunch, including dessert! Everything was wonderful!!
Here's a close-up of the binder notepad holder I made her. The chipboard measures 4" x 4" and is covered on both sides with Willoughby paper. The binder clip and ink pen also have the same paper to match. The sheets are loose so she can refill it with scrap papers, a sticky note pad or whatever she'd like!
This card was made using the Trendy Greetings stamp set from The Angel Company. This is a MUST HAVE stamp set for all - occasion cards and projects. There's a stamp for various holidays and themes in this set! The clover is from the Purchase With Purchase stamp set called Fancy Suits and it's only $2.95 with any $30 purchase! I used Jardin Moss to ink it up. The edges were sponged with Cognac and Burnt Umber. We are making a Suspension Card similar to this in our card class on Monday!

June wanted everyone to make a scrapbook page at her FunShop so that is what we did. She chose a birthday theme and it was a lot of fun to create this for them! I used a sketch I found in one of my scrapbooking magazines. It is a very simple design but I like to keep the focus on the photos and journaling. The balloons were punched out of the designer paper with my Super Jumbo Scalloped Punch and popped up with dimensionals. The strings were created with Scrapper's Floss. There's enough room for a 4"x6" photo and a 3¾" x 5¾" photo.
Here's a close-up of the journaling box. We used Tag Tidbits and Squiggle Ladybugs for the journal box "border" using "giggle," "joy," "laugh," and "happy birthday." All the inks are Palette Hybrid: French Lilac, Bordeaux, Starr Night, and Jardin Moss.

CCC02/10

Hey, everyone!

I wanted to show you the last two cards I created for the Christmas Card Club challenge. This month's challenge was to create a "long" card.
I used the Penelope designer paper from The Angel Company. I stamped the sentiment from Trendy Greetings on Reece designer paper then punched it out with my Super Jumbo Circle punch. I punched a piece of Penelope designer paper with my Mega Scalloped Circle punch.

I used my Build-A-Background hostess set to create the starry background on the Penelope designer paper with my Noir Palette Hybrid ink pad. The Trendy Greetings sentiment was stamped onto a piece of Reece designer paper and then punched with my Super Jumbo Oval punch.

Four Christmas cards made this year, 30 more to go!! I am not sure what the new challenge will be for next month but I am looking forward to making four more!

February Card Class

Hey, everyone!

Wednesday was my monthly card class and we had a lot of fun!! I wanted to share those projects with you today! First of all this month ends the Hostess Club. It typically runs for three months but only two signed up and managed to get enough orders to fulfill their commitments. I created some "thank you" notes and gifts for Karen and Donna. The paper is Miss Moxie and the sentiment is from The Angel Company's stamp set Build A Flower.
These are the projects we made in class.

This Window Box Treat Holder was requested by June L. She wanted to learn how to make these. I was so busy that I didn't get a chance to make the marshmallow pops for everyone but I shared the links with them so they can make them and they were glad to have that information! I used the Hip Hop Designer paper for the front of the window box. The candy and sentiment box are both from the TAC stamp set Sweet Goodies. The scalloped squares are punches from TAC.

Donna was this month's hostess and she saw a flower pot card I had made some time ago. She wanted to make one, too, so this is what I came up with!

The "flower pot" is sponged in Cognac Palette Hybrid Ink, the flowers are created with the Cricut. I saw Laurie W.'s post here and loved how she left a point on each petal. I thought it was such a unique look. So I attempted to something similar here but in hopes of turning green flowers into green leaves! The sentiment is brand new from The Angel Company in our new Serendipity Street. It's called Dream Come True and it's only $5.95 for 4 sentiments! LOVE THAT!

I had never made an easel card before but I have seen them all over the place lately! I wanted to use the bumblebee from this really fun Hostess Level A stamp set called Swirled Spring Life from TAC. I went with a black and yellow color scheme to go with the bumblebee. The Thinking of You sentiment and octagon shapes are from my Cricut. The white and black squares are as well. Talk about easy work for making kits!! Press a button and watch it work for you with perfect lines everytime! I used my clear stardust glitter gel pen for a shimmery effect and the shape of the "stopper" on the card is reflective of a honeycomb! I really love this card. The "hello" also shimmers and it is from the Trendy Greetings stamp set.

Last, but certainly not least, is this sweet little chick card! Isn't this image adorable? It is also brand new from Serendipity Street. This stamp set is called Easter Chicks. You get 7 images including a sentiment for only $10.95!! I used my Tombow Brights and Stardust Glitter Gel Pens to color him in. I outlined him with my Gray Tombow marker. I just love the way it adds some dimension. The paper is Angelee. I think it goes so well with the colors of the egg. The white gel pen I used for faux stitiching and doodle dots ties it all together! I created this card from this sketch. You might remember I used it for this card, too. CC49 - My first!!

Hey, everyone!!

I am so excited to announce that I am the new Color Combo Motivational hostess at Paper Wings now. So, today is my first CC Motivational post over there and I wanted to share my card here, too. Every couple weeks I will share another Color Combo that you can play with. I hope you'll join me here, too!


Today's Color Combo is:
Reflection Blue
Giverny Green
Burnt Umber

You can use Noir for your sentiment and white as your cardstock base if you choose. It's okay to add in a few other colors from designer paper, but your main image needs to have those colors (or something close).



Here is my card:

I used a sketch from HERE and then modified it just a little. My friend Christina helped me decide what worked best, design-wise with these patterns. What would I do without her? I am a little intimidated by patterns and mixing them up but I really like how this worked out. The image is from Brighten Your Day by The Angel Company. The sentiment is from Trendy Greetings from TAC, also. Don't you love this paper? It's beautiful! Definitely speaks spring to my heart and I am ready for some warmer temps! This is the Catelynne paper pack and I love, love, love it! I used my Cloud Scissors, also from TAC to add a sweet little scalloped border along the edges of the diamond patterned paper. Farmall Birthday Card

Hey, everyone!!

Yesterday was my father-in-law's birthday and I made him a card. He owns a few Farmall Tractors and I know he loves them so I thought it would be neat to design a card that looked like the front end of a tractor! Here is what I come up with:
I used L'Amore Red Palette Hybrid Ink and Charcoal Palette Hybrid Ink for the sponging. I stamped a "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Trendy Greetings stamp set (all from TAC) on the inside. I heard he liked it and I am so glad! This is the first time I ever made a tractor card! Thanks for looking! Have a great day!

First Card Class of 2010!

Hey, everyone!!

Yesterday was my card class. We made 4 cards that I will be sharing with you today! If you couldn't make it to the class but still want to come, the cost for the kit is $10 (plus s/h if I mail it) and includes images.

We created a masculine card because I think they are often more challenging to come up with ideas for! Here I used the Just Like Dad patterned paper, Decorative Corners stamp set, Tag Tidbits stamp set, Premium White Cardstock, Jardin Moss palette ink and Mega Scalloped Square Punch all from The Angel Company.

The second card I am showing you is great for baby showers and can be created in pink for girls or gender neutral colors. You can adapt the idea for birthdays, weddings, bridal showers, graduations, or whatever occasion you want! I am using Premium White Cardstock, Brighten My Day patterned paper, Hello Baby stamp set, Mega Scalloped Square Punch, Tombow Markers, Stardust Glitter Gel Pens, Noir Palette Hybrid Ink, Reflection Blue Palette Hybrid Ink, and Trendy Greetings stamp set all from The Angel Company. I also used a white gel pen from Signo Uni-ball that is the ultimate! LOVE IT!

I used an oval punch from TAC to punch the opening for the gift card.
The third card we created is an adorable treat holder that I saw on Angie Juda's blog. Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so what a great way to make a card and gift all in one for your family, friends, coworkers, school teachers, fellow church members, or your sweetheart! The cardstock is Birch and I have never ordered it before but I absolutely love it!!! It has a really nice weight to it and the specks in it make a very natural looking card. It's great! I heard a lot of great things about it in class and got an order for some going in soon!! The papers are from Miss Moxie and I used the Mega Scalloped Square Punch. I used my Tombow markers and Stardust Glitter Gel Pens to color the image in. Do you not love this bird? It's a Hostess Level A stamp set coming up in the brand new Serendipity magalogue that goes live February 1!!

I slipped a Ghiradelli chocolate and caramel square inside the card. The "friend" sentiment comes from the Beyond Measure Hostess Level B stamp set that you can earn with a qualifying party!! I used L'Amore Red Palette Hybrid ink and my Stardust Glitter Gel Pen to go over it for some added sparkle!
Our fourth and final card of the day was for another treat holder. This holds a Dove milk chocolate heart! I used red cardstock, black cardstock, Premium White Cardstock (TAC), the new Brighten Your Day stamp set available now for a limited time, stamped in Noir Palette Hybrid ink, colored with my Burnt Umber Copic Marker, Pink Souffle Gelly Pen, Stardust Glitter Gel Pens and Tombow Markers all from TAC. I accented the cat's eyes with my white gel pen.

The ribbon is from Walmart. It's tied in a knot on the side to secure the card together. Here's a look at the inside:

The sentiment is from Trendy Greetings and stamped in Palette Hybrid Ink. We also stamped hearts from the Build-A-Background Hostess Level A stamp set down the sides for a fun little border inside the card. The idea for this project came from Dawn Griffith. I apologize for the blurry photo. I don't know about my camera sometimes! LOL
