Day Of Thanks

Hey, everyone!

This week I am featuring cards and projects with a Thanksgiving theme. I don't think this is the only time each year we should stop what we are doing to count our blessings, but I do feel it is very important to be a little more focused on being thankful during this season.

It seems as though time is getting shorter, not that there aren't still 24 hours in a day, but that we just cram so much into one day that our time to sit and reflect on the good things of our day has been squeezed out. I am guilty of cramming so much into my life that I don't always have an attitude of gratitude and that bothers me. I want to change that because I truly have so much to be thankful for, that I should never let a moment go by that I didn't express my appreciation in a heartfelt way.

I want my son and daughter to know how very much I appreciate being their mother. The fact that God blessed me with them, entrusted them to my care, well, it's sometimes so very hard to believe! I am blessed beyond measure with these two awesome children and so very thankful for them. I have a wonderful husband who does so much for me and our children and I have to stop to wonder, do I thank him? Sure I use my manners and I give him hugs and kisses, but how often do I just stop what I am doing to tell him how much I appreciate everything he does? Today I just sent him a text message out of the blue just to let him know I was thinking about him and I love him and I missed him. He didn't text me back because he was working. He said he got my message when I asked if it went through but that was all. But I know that it meant a lot to him. He once told me that he liked getting text messages from me and missed it when I didn't send them.

Who are you thankful for? What are you thankful for? I love my family and even though sometimes it seems as though we are having a hard time making it through, I am just glad we have each other to lean on. What a blessing it is to be together!

For today's project, I want to show you a card I made with the Speckle stamp as a background using our Burnt Umber ink. That is my favorite ink, by the way! I love it!! The cornucoppia and Day of Thanks sentiment come from the retired Autumn Smiles stamp set. I cut the horn of plenty out and added pop dots to the back for some dimension. The Remember, Reflect and Appreciate sentiments come from the My Journey stamp set and the Happy Thanksgiving sentiment is from the Count Your Blessings stamp set. I am using Juliette paper on the nuggets. The scallop circle punch layer was punched out using our Marvy punches and the doodle dots were added with a white gel pen. You can find all of these items in the Fall/Winter 2008 The Angel Company catalog and if you would like to order any of them, please let me know. You have a little longer to take advantage of the Double Dips promotion going on until December 3.

This is something you can easily put together and give to whomever is hosting your Thanksgiving dinner, if you are like me and won't be doing all the cooking yourself. If you are in charge of the dinner party this year, wouldn't it be fun to make up some of these nuggets and place one at each dinner plate? You could just place the nugget by itself if you didn't have the time to put together this whole thing. The card could easily be turned into a place card, as well.

Hope this inspires you to create something today. My inspiration for the card came from a sketch I saw for a MOJO Monday Contest. You have to check this blog out, if you haven't already. Lots of awesome stuff going on!

November Angel Art Challenge: Thanksgiving

Hey, everyone!

Who wants to go on a blog hop today? I am participating in the November Angel Art Challenge with a Thanksgiving theme along with some of my fellow Angels. We're making Thanksgiving or Thank You cards. This is a great chance for many of you who want to be entered twice for my Blog Candy to get some ideas on a thank you card. You can read more about the Blog Candy here.

In the meantime, here is my Thanksgiving card. I used a retired TAC stamp set called Autumn Smiles that I really love! The acorn and leaf are from that set. The sentiment comes from the Count Your Blessings stamp set. This is a really fun set, too! The designer paper on the front of the card is TAC Juliette. I absolutely love this paper and have now completely used it all up. Time to reorder, huh?

I hope you like my card. Now hop on over to see what the other Angels came up with!

DOUBLE DIP

If you are standing around at a party near the chip and dip table, it wouldn't be very cool to double dip...but there are a few times when double dipping can be a really good thing: a double dip of ice cream, a quick double dip at the end of a dance....LOL...and the best double dip I can think of starts Monday, September 15 and goes through until Monday, November 3! That's right, The Angel Company is serving up two scoops of fall fun with DOUBLE REWARDS! Customers, hostesses and new Angels can enjoy DOUBLE TREATS that include:

TWO GWP stamps for every $30 purchase
Double hostess benefits with an extra helping of hostess stamp sets and half price items!!!
New Angels signing up during this time will receive a $50 T-coded STAMP BONUS!
And if that isn't a sweet enough deal....The Angel Company has released our fall supplement! You can see the gorgeous new stamp sets we have plus awesome tutorials included that you can clip out and keep once they have it up on their website next week! Let me know if you want to see it now....just e-mail me. If you want your own copy, be sure to e-mail me and let me know. It's hoosier_card_angel@yahoo.com and put FALL SUPPLEMENT in the subject line!

Now would be a wonderful time to join the FREE Birthday Club...I've already been signing people up for this! And the Hostess Club begins in October and run through December, making October a wonderful month to be a hostess...in the club or at your own FunShop! Let me know when you want to book yours!

And I have one more fun thing to share with you! Arnold and Hannah came over and hung out with me, Paul and Kadesia last night. We ate pizza and watched a DVD. It was so fun. Hannah and I had a LITTLE bit of time to craft and so this is the fun little TWO WAY FLAP card I told her how to make! Isn't it cute?

She used the TAC COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS set for the HAPPY THANKSGIVING sentiment. The leaf is one I have had for a loooong time! It's now unmounted so I am not even sure where I got it from. I got the inside sentiment from a stampabilites stamp. She used Burnt Umber ink, also from TAC. The white cardstock base is measured at 4½"x4½" and is from TAC. The brown cardstock is something I had in my scrap pile so not sure where it came from. It measures 8"x4" and was scored at 4". The patterned paper is TAC and is retired now. Isn't it so fallish? I love it! She did a fabulous job!! It measures 7"x3½" and is scored at 3½". She got the dp in her SUPRISE BOX! I think it turned out so well!

Hoosier Card Angel Creations

Hey, everyone!

I thought I would show you just a few of my recent creations. I have trouble sleeping so I stay up all night working on crafts! LOL And this morning is no exception. I am finally starting to feel tired, so I may lay down for a little bit after I share my cards with you!

First of all, I love this stamp set from The Angel Company™. It's called Count Your Blessings. I love the fall of the year and I thought this would be a fun set to get. The little pilgrim girl here got a little modern with her clothing! LOL I paper pieced her dress and hat from a piece of blue DP I purchased recently. The leaves were colored with my favorite stardust glitter gel pens that I absolutely love! I did a little bit of masking at her feet so it gives the illusion that she is walking through the leaves. This is the second time I have ever done masking so I didn't want to mess it up...but I think it turned out pretty cute! The Happy Thanksgiving sentiment is from the same stamp set and the leaves are just from the ones the girl is playing with. The hair, shoes, dress sash and top of the bonnet are colored with my Tombow markers. I used a watercolor pencil in a peachy color to give her hands and face a little bit of color. The buckles on her shoes are colored with a silver glitter gel pen I bought at the Dollar Tree. I used my white gel pen for doodle dots on the corners. Inside is a really nice sentiment from a stamp I bought at Hobby Lobby when they had their 50% off sale on rubber stamps. I plan on giving this to my brother along with the other cards I have made for him to give to his fiance.

The next thing I want to share with you is my attempt at making a love-themed ATC. I am very new to the world of Artist Trading Cards as far as trying to make them. I know about them from when I wrote to my pen pals several years ago. I have had pen pals since grade school and the best pen pal ever, that I absolutely love to pieces, has been my pen pal since I was in the 10th grade! She lives in Italy, though, and I am here in America so we have never met but I would love to meet her someday! I got paired up with a girl in my SBS18 sisterhood to swap friendship ATC's and sadly I have not been able to make one to save my life! I get as far as the base card measurements of 2.5" x 3.5" and that's it! So I came up with this idea...using my fun little triple heart stamp that I don't even remember where I purchased it from but most likely Michael's $1 bin! The rhinestone brad is from Hobby Lobby. I punched the image using my new scalloped square punch that I traded another Angel some catalogs for! I added a few white doodle dots with my gel pen. It's simple and kind of cute... It does seem rather plain to me...but I think I will leave it as it is.

The ATC I made for the swap with Jaime is this one. (Jaime don't look! LOL) The background has pink ladybugs on a green background with white flowers. It's really cute paper with glitter on it! I added some rhinestone brads for fun along with a green brad at the bottom for her to see it's something to pull. When you open up this adorable waterfall card you can see the stamped phrase FRIENDS FOREVER which is a retired stamp set. I did punch a semi-circle out so the pull tab was easier to get access to. I used my pink Tombow marker and blending pen to color in this flower. The flower is a stamp set with Tinkerbell in it that I picked up at Big Lots for cheap one day! Then I covered it with pink stickles! I love stickles!!! I think this one turned out a lot better than the LOVE one and I made this one first....oh well! I hope Jaime likes it. I am mailing it off this weekend along with a few other things that I will not tell on here in case she sees this before I get the chance to mail it all to her!

Thanks for looking at my projects with me. It's been fun blogging about it and I hope you will share a link with me to see all of your ATC creations! Take care and have a great day!

Hugs,
