$5 Goodwill Challenge: Spring AND Summer Editions!

Hey, everyone!

I am so excited to share this with you all!! If you know me, you already know that I love to go thrift shopping. It is just so much fun to see what great finds I can pick up at second-hand stores and yard sales. Back in the spring I participated in a really fun YouTube challenge from Hilary at My So-Called Home. She issued a $5 Goodwill Challenge: Spring Edition. I took her challenge and was able to find something very cute for $5 and it was from an unexpected place! A lady was selling some items from homes that she had staged and they were really nice things for affordable prices. You can check out that video below, but there is even more to see!!
I emailed Hilary to see if she would possibly be issuing a new challenge for the summer like she had done in the spring. My mother and I had been thrifting and we found all kinds of amazing deals and I was eager to share. She said she was absolutely going to do the challenge again and let me know when she would be putting her video up. So, I created a video response to the $5 Goodwill Challenge: Summer Edition! You can check it out below.
If you haven't already done so, please go to my YouTube channel and click on the subscribe tab. You do not have to create videos on YouTube to subscribe. This will let you know every time I upload a new video to my channel.

I hope you like these videos. Please let me know in the comments below if you enjoy thrift store shopping. What is your best find? If you create a video response to this challenge, definitely let me know in the comments section and I will check it out!

From hideous to Well, hello!

Hey everyone!!

It's another free glitter text and family website at FamilyLobby.com here in southern Indiana. I have a really great website to share with you today. It's the Refashionista! Have you heard of her? If not, you MUST check her blog out after you finish reading this post! Seriously, you will be amazed at her mad refashioning skills! Her claim to fame? "I'll change the way you think about fashion." She is not kidding!!!
Like most everything else I share here on this blog, I found her on Pinterest. I just love that place! I told you it's a great place to visit!! So I was intrigued by reading that she takes clothing that someone else doesn't want anymore... (holes, stained, damaged) and she buys them for fifty cents or a buck ... sometimes they are just given to her for free, and she transforms them into creations I had no idea was even possible from such a mess of material!

Even if you do not want to learn how to sew, or alter your own clothes, it is definitely a great blog to check out. She has such a big heart. She donated cat nip toys to her favorite animal shelter that she made from one of her least favorite items found in clothing...shoulder pads! Yeah, she did!! She even spent a whole year creating fabulous pieces for an organization that helps women in need. I love that! You can read all about that on her bio page. I think that is a pretty selfless thing to do and my hat is off to her!

Thanks to her my list of  MUST DO sewing projects certainly has grown. You may find yourself looking at your wardrobe in a brand new way, as well. Just another blog to prove one man's trash is truly this girl's treasure!!!

Now off you go to explore!! Just remember to come back tomorrow for Thrifty Thursday. After sharing her website and exposing you to a brand new way to think about fashion, you may have some Thrifty Thursday tips for me. I'd love to hear them!!

Buckets full of fun!

Hey everyone!

Welcome back for another
free glitter text and family website at FamilyLobby.com

I am sorry I didn't get to share this with you all yesterday. It's been a little bit crazy lately! I wanted to share with you some buckets I got recently on clearance at Kmart. I bought 3 buckets similar to these:

They were leftover from Easter at Kmart.Only three buckets were left so I bought them all. I purchased two tall ones for 40 cents and a size smaller for 30 cents! I purchased two cans of black spray paint for 97 cents each and for under $4 I will have three buckets that are just the color I want to go in my new scrapbook room! YAY!!!

I love shopping clearance. I look at everything in a whole new way now that I know how to alter items to make them just the way I want them to be. My mom will spray paint the buckets for me. I have never tried and I don't want to mess them up. I may try it with her help but we will see. What thrifty items have you purchased recently?

First Thrifty Thursday Share

Hey everyone!

As promised, here is today's post on
free glitter text and family website at FamilyLobby.com

I really love getting a bargain! I shop around for the best deals I can find. My mom taught me that
a bargain is not really a bargain unless the item being purchased is truly something I need. So
when I was shopping for a new purse at Kmart the other day I knew I scored big with my
purchases. Here is one of them:
This messenger bag is Dickies brand. It is a really fun design with all of the circles and it is made really well.
The front flap has this deep pocket that zips closed.
This is a great place for a cell phone or calculator. It has a velcro closure.
There is another pocket on the front flap. It also zips closed which keeps everything secure.
Once the flap is lifted up there are more pockets and places to store things.
This pocket is pretty deep but there is no closure on it.
There is another zipper inside.
As you can see it will hold quite a bit of stuff! My daughter has it jam packed full! The bag retails for $24.99 according to the tag but I bought it for only $4 on clearance! I love that! I saved $20.99!

Do you like finding good deals? I would love to hear what thrifty finds you have come across! Next week I will be sharing even more frugal finds so be sure to check back. Leave me a comment below or email me at hoosier_card_angel@yahoo.com to share your latest penny pinching purchases!
