What's In My Bible Study Tote?

Hey everyone!

I love watching videos that show what people carry around in their purses and their bags. I know it might sound crazy to some people, but it's just fun for me to watch them! When I was younger, I remember my mom keeping me quiet at church by showing me things in her purse. I loved looking in there with her because that was the ONLY time any of us ever got into my mother's purse. I also just love seeing how people arrange things in their purse or bag, and it gives me new ideas of things I might want to start carrying with me!

I purchased this little tote at Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon. It was very inexpensive, but it was the perfect place to store all of my Bible study pens, paper, and miscellaneous items. I grab this to take to church with me and it's also close to my bed for studying God's Word in my room. If you are curious to what all I have inside, please watch my video below:

Washi Tape Collection & Storage

Hey everyone!

A few years ago was the first time I ever heard of Washi tape. I heard the term and thought, "What is Washi?" I had never heard of it.

Now I love all things paper crafting as many of you know! I could spend HOURS shopping for office supplies, sorting through pens and sticky notes, updating my planner, etc. So I was fascinated by the concept of a decorative tape that was re-positionable without damaging the item it was adhered to.

Nearly any store I walk into, it seems, carries some version of Washi tape. Even my favorite store ever: The Dollar Tree, carries a version of this tape. It varies from $1 to several dollars, depending on where you shop.

You may have a lot more Washi tape than I do. If so, please leave me a comment and let me know how you store your Washi. I decided to store mine in a makeup bag, but soon outgrew it. Watch this video to see my Washi tape collection and my new storage solution at the end. I absolutely love it!!

What's In My Purse?

Hey, everyone!

I have watched a lot of YouTube videos where women show all the contents of their purse or handbag and how it is all organized. I enjoy watching them because sometimes other people have different things they carry with them that I just do not ever think to bring along. Often I have found creative ways to organize items in my purse that seem to fall to the bottom of the bag and get lost, or spill out and make a mess... So I thought I would share what is in my purse and how I have found a solution that works well for me in keeping things neat and organized.

The biggest tip I can give for finding a purse/handbag to stay organized is to find one that has a lot of pockets/compartments and enough room for everything you want to carry. Another idea is to use small cosmetic bags or zippered pouches to keep similar items together and keep things organized. If you just love a purse/handbag and it doesn't have a lot of pockets, you can get a purse organizer online or in some stores. They offer additional organization and just fits down inside your purse. I happened to find a really great purse at a local store that supports persons with disabilities. Here is my purse:

$3 Dollar Tree Bathroom Makeover

Hey everyone!

My family and I had another recent life change. I am going to create a YouTube video about it because I think it might be easier than trying to create a lengthy blog post about it. In this video I sort of elude to a part of the change and it is no big secret to a lot of my family and friends. I just want to explain it all in one video post.

Today I have a video to share with you. I am really excited to share this transformation with you all because I am certain I am not alone when it comes to having this issue. There are five of us in this house who share one bathroom. There are two full bathrooms in this house but we share the master bathroom as far as storage and all that. My mom and I tried to organize my family's hair care products and facial items and things into a small space and it looked great! The problem is that it did not function very well so I had to come up with something else!

That is when I decided I would check out my local Dollar Tree. It's a great place to shop on a shoestring budget and get something really nice to keep the space tidy. I spent $3.21 on my organizational items. I hope you will enjoy this short video of how I transformed a small space into our bathroom into something functional and fresh!

Medication Organization

Hey, everyone!

I hope you all are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend here in the United States. I have had a very nice weekend so far. I am so grateful for all of the men and women who gave their life for my freedom. They truly paid the ultimate sacrifice. I am also thankful to all the men and women who have served their country to afford me the freedoms that I do not take for granted. I thank God for all of the service men and women and their families. If you or your loved one is serving (or has served), thank you and God bless you!!

Each holiday is tough without my dad here to celebrate with us. He would tell the guys his tips and tricks for grilling the perfect cut of meat. My dad was an excellent grill master and he came up with amazing flavor combinations with any of the food he cooked/baked to excite the pickiest of taste buds. It is hard to believe that he has been gone for five months now. It seems like it just happened sometimes, and other times it feels like it has been so long since I last saw my dad alive. I hope you will cherish the time you spend with your loved ones because tomorrow is not promised to any of us.

Many of the things I do in my home is directly related to the way my parents did things. Do you find that to be true for you, too? I just sort of look back and wonder what my mom or dad would have done and then I am able to do something similar. For instance, my mom is naturally an organized person. She knows where everything is in her home and she can quickly disappear into a room and retrieve anything I might ask of her. She puts things back in the same place so she can always find them.

I copied my mom's idea of putting medication in a basket. It kind of worked for us. We have so many bottles of medication that it was a little chaotic and often disorganized. I needed to come up with a better solution. My mom just makes her basket work for her. It's a great solution for her and she knows right where everything goes. I had to come up with a different idea for myself. I wanted to be able to quickly find whatever I needed in a moment. I also wanted an organizational method that would allow my husband to find whatever he is looking for quickly, especially when I am not home. I decided that I am probably not the only one that has this same problem so I decided to share a YouTube video with everyone on how I corral all those medications. I hope this is helpful.

Meal Planning

Hey, everyone!

When I first got married almost 14 years ago, cooking was something I really enjoyed doing but I did not have much experience. I collected recipes since my Home Economic days when we learned to cook at school. Growing up I was given recipes for delicious meals and desserts by many different family members and friends. For my bridal shower, everyone had been given a recipe card and asked to share a favorite recipe with me. I cherish those recipes, especially the ones from my loved ones who have passed. I have an entire drawer of cookbooks and a full recipe box. I have pinned oodles and gobs of recipes on my Pinterest account and I love trying new recipes. As much as I love to cook and try new things, I found myself fixing the same dishes week after week. I was in a rut!

Many of my girl friends had similar complaints. My mother who had cooked since she was a young girl often agreed, "I don't know what to cook!" My sister gave me some ideas of things she would make and my mom gave me a few ideas. Even my dear friend Amber Willingham shared some of her family's favorite meal ideas with me. It really helped to compare/swap recipes with family and friends. But before long I would find myself back into another rut!

I am a list maker and I really love to make lists. It is fun to do and I enjoy the process. So I created some charts and lists for meal planning and it really helped a lot. I have had a system in place for several years now that allows me to be a little more creative when it comes to meal planning. Those I share the idea with are always glad to hear it and so I thought I would just film a video to show you my meal planning strategy. I don't do this every single week but it really is nice to fall back on when I want to change things up a bit!

What took me so long?

Hey everyone!

Tonight I was reflecting on when I first started blogging. My first blog post was on February 27, 2008. My life was so completely different then than it is right now. I kind of look back at that time in my life and long for those times again. Even though life was tough back then, it sure feels tougher now. So many things have changed: my kids have grown, my husband's job changed, my life changed in so many ways, and the one thing I never could imagine happening did... my sweet daddy died on December 29, 2013. But with all of the changes, one thing remained and that is my faith. I cannot say my faith did not change, because it has. I believe stronger than ever that my Redeemer lives and that Jesus is my Savior and Lord. I know He is able to take care of anything I surrender to Him. I trust Him completely and yet there is much more room for growth. My faith sustains me.

I have unofficially graduated from the LPN program. We had the formality of a pinning ceremony and presenting a document but the actual nursing program will continue for eight more weeks. I start back up tomorrow. I really am so weary of driving three hours round trip a day for five days a week at various hours of the EARLY morning, and bouncing my children around to my in-laws or back home with my mother seeing them on their school buses. Life is just hard and inconsistent right now and I do not have a lot of time to do the things I am the most passionate about, but I am trying to get back to some of the basic things that really helped me in the simpler times when my blog was new and things just seemed less chaotic.

I have been producing some YouTube videos lately and I wanted to share one with you all today. It is a video about how I use my Joyfully Yours weekly planner by Dayspring. My husband bought it for me and I absolutely love it. It really does keep me organized and I enjoy using stickers and pretty embellishments to keep it colorful and fun to use. Organizing Big Shot Dies and Embossing Folders

Hey everyone!

Today's tutorial is a quick tip for getting organized. I love my Big Shot and use it for so many projects. The dies are fun and make life so much easier when cutting out fabulous shapes perfectly every time. The embossing folders add a great texture to the cards without adding a lot of bulk. It's great! But trying to find a place to store everything, especially in a small craft space that I share with my laundry, can be a challenge. I found the solution to meet my storage needs and you will find out more in this video. Enjoy!

Another Birthday Wish and Some Organization!

Hey, everyone!!

First of all, I would like to wish my dad the happiest birthday ever!!! I didn't make him anything for his birthday (not even a card, gasp!) but I will make sure I buy the card with the perfect words just for him! My brother and I are going in together for his present and I know he will love it!

You may be wondering what I have been up to since I haven't been posting to my blog much! I have taken on a MAJOR undertaking! I decided to move all my paper crafting upstairs to the kitchen corner and create myself a cozy little crafter's nook! The problem? I HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF! LOL So, I decided to go back to plan A which is to only make a scrapbooking area in my kitchen corner and leave my paper crafting and stamping supplies downstairs. SOOOO I have been organizing that AGAIN and sorting things out! The good part of that, though, is I am going to be having a big BLOG CANDY when I am done!!! Want to see what I have accomplished the past couple of days?

Warning: this is an unfinished basement in a very old house so it won't be those beautiful show rooms, er I mean craft rooms, you see others have but I am thankful to have a dedicated space to play!

This is the top two shelves right beside my desk. I put all my punches on the top and separated them by company. I have a few more punches than that but this was what I had up there when I took the picture. Some of the punches are two deep. My bind-it-all and accessories are on the left hand side of the second shelf. Inside the basket I have some tools like another pair of wire cutters, Cloud scissors (from TAC), my Corner Chomper (from TAC), my Crop-A-Dile (from TAC), etc. In the taller blue basket I have my fun flock, seed beads, glitter, etc. The white pail has some foam brushes in it that I use with my Mod Podge which is behind the pail. In the skinny blue basket on the far right I have all my embossing powders, embossing buddy and heat gun. My acrylic paints are behind this basket.
Here are three of my ribbon holders. I need one or two more to hold the rest of my ribbon. I love these holders! Some miscellaneous ribbon (not on the rolls) are behind these holders. I also have a couple rolls sitting out. The next shelf down holds my quote books, Thesaurus, dictionary and a book my Upline Rita gave me! The bottom shelf is where I keep my label maker and packing tape.
This large shelf was FULL TO THE TOP AND SIDES and hanging out with items to alter. I had boxes and cans and toilet paper rolls, jumbo paper clips and you name it...it was probably here! I took everything off this shelf, cleaned it really well and now look! The only thing left is the banner I use for craft fairs rolled up on the left and my basket of retired papers from The Angel Company. This space makes me very happy to look at now! Wonder where all that stuff went? Let me show you!
I took everything off my big white cabinet and cleaned it really well! Then I put all my mailing supplies together...envelopes, boxes, etc. I love that I can find everything easily now. The next shelf is all the chipboard I have left. I have been going through a lot of it since purchasing my Bind-It-All! I love making books!
Just below that shelf, I have two drawers. This is the top drawer. I have my picture frames in this drawer!
Top shelf, left-hand side of the big white cabinet! I have coasters, cds, clipboards, pens, papers, notebooks, and lots more just waiting to be turned into something lovely!
Next shelf down has some more fun things to alter: clothespins, a pail, lunchbox, and other great stuff to play with!
Tiles! Lots and lots and lots of tiles! I want to make some of these for Christmas gifts this year. Looks like I'll have plenty! LOL
One of my favorite things to do is stamp on candles! I love that! It's so fun...so I have a few candles! This is the top shelf on the right hand side and in the round basket I have board books and wooden letters ready and waiting to be altered!
This is the second shelf on the right and can I just tell you how much fun this basket is going to be for me?! There are boxes and tins and containers of all shapes and sizes and I am super eager to turn them into fun gifts!
These two tubs stack on one another nicely on the bottom shelf on the right. I have small gift bags and tissue paper in the bottom one and other paper bags in the top that I use with paper crafting.
This used to be where I kept all my tools but now that I have the bookshelf free I only need my large paper trimmer, my tool basket, Scor-Pal and mat and a cutting board. I am not quite done here (as you can see with the missing drawers, LOL) but I am in the process of labeling each drawer with designer papers from TAC and my favorite cardstocks. I need one more 12x12 3 drawer unit and I will be done labeling. I love that I can stack all my 12x12 designer papers, their matching cardstocks, ribbon, hardware and even kits inside one drawer! What a great tool for me when I start my card classes again!
This is my husband's desk. He does the bills here. He has one drawer and a basket! LOL The rest is mine! My daughter sits here to do her paper crafting. She uses the ALPHABETS. I have foam and chipboard alphabets in these drawers separated by letter and a few chipboard numbers. She is very creative! The top drawers are mine filled with buttons, rhinestones, key chains, pearls, pom poms and tons more!

I didn't show you where I sit down to work and there's a good reason for that. I am not done! There's still a lot of things sitting on my desk that I must go through! I am almost done, though, and then I can start taking things back down stairs that I have upstairs! My house is a crafting war zone right now! LOL But it will be wonderful to have it all finished, especially with the fall season coming in a couple months. I will enjoy being inside to craft more! Thanks for hanging out with me! Fishing For Ribbon Storage

Hey, everyone!

Do you like ribbon? I know I do! I love to look at it, shop for it, use it and KEEP IT! What's wrong with that? Well, there's just this little issue of where to put it all! I have been organizing and decluttering my craft space for a while now. I have used a lot of storage units for my ribbon but it still got wrinkled or knocked out of the basket or something! Remember I have two kids, 8 and 2... my 8 year old likes to use Mommy's things and my 2 year old thinks it's fun to roll them down the hall like tires to see the trails of ribbon left behind! Oh the fun times! LOL

I have finally found a really great solution, though! Where did I find it? The fishing section at Walmart! LOL You know I love to look at tackle boxes, right? Well, I do! All that storage! It's awesome! So I was just having a field day looking at these containers when my daughter says to her dad, "I can't believe Mom is looking at tackle boxes!" Of course, I am not going to FISH, I was just looking for ideas to store my scrapbooking and stamping supplies. Look what I found:
Isn't this great? I just popped out the little black pieces for fishing line and it works perfectly! Here is a link for it: Plano® Line Spool Box and I only need 4 more to hold all my ribbon! For all of you who would need WAY more than 5 of these boxes total to hold your ribbon, be sure to leave me a comment so I can show them to my husband! LOL I want him to see that I don't have as much ribbon as he thinks!

A tub full!

Hey, everyone!!

I am not sure if all this winter weather that has kept me cooped up in the house is bringing on my desire to get things cleaned up, thinned out and organized, or if it's just an early spring cleaning feeling coming on, but I have been bit by the organization bug! Do you ever get like that? Just want to tear apart a drawer in your kitchen and take everything out, put things back nice and neat and get rid of the things you held onto for no apparent reason? Me, too! I have started this in the kids' closets and then I went through some of the kitchen cabinets and my scrap space is now the new target! Man what a target it is! So big I can't miss it! LOL

I have been bending the ear of my dear friend, Christina, who has so patiently helped me with a lot of decisions on what to keep, how to organize it, where to put everything so it flows the best. This is not an easy task when you're like 20 hours away from someone! But she is amazing like that. She comes up with ideas that are probably no big deal to her and I am like, "Whoa! I never thought of that!" So I found some canvas totes at the Dollar Tree and I mentioned to her that I'd like to get some of them and have everything looking pretty and uniform on my bookshelf. It would cost me nearly $20 to get all the totes I wanted. I didn't get them that day but I went back, fully intending to get 8 or 9 of them just to see if I would like them. They had them all on the end cap, most had been picked over by that time and I really was hesitant. I put them in my cart and strolled around. I let the kids pick a toy each (aren't I a big spender? LOL) and then I proceeded to the section of plastic baskets and bins. I liked a few of them but they had holes in the sides and I really wanted solid bases so nothing would fall out or be seen from the outside. I moved on and there on the last aisle was a stack of black tubs. I thought about it, knew it would be much easier to find more of those than it would the designed canvas totes so I grabbed 8 tubs and proceeded to the check out. Want to see how well they are working so far?
The first tub here has all my inks, sponges, daubers, and refills. I love having it all in one place. The large clam shell case holds 6 of my Ink Spot sets. I have 3 more to purchase and then I will have all our colors. One of the medium size clam shell cases holds 3 sets so that is perfect!

This next tub is for all my adhesives. I don't have it all in there yet but there is plenty of room for more. I have a lot of my glue sticks, glue pens, Xyron and refills, pop dots and glue dots, tape runners and refills, etc. It's really nice to have ONE place to look for my tape runner instead of multiple which is a huge time saver!

This is probably the area that needed to be corraled the worst and makes me feel the happiest everytime I see it! I had envelopes of all sizes and colors in every direction! I had the top shelf of my bookcase crammed with them and could never find what I needed when I had to! So, I just grabbed them all and laid them all out on my bed by size and popped them into this tub! Instant gratification! I can grab a note card on the left there, create a fun card, pick an envelope it coordinates with and I am good to go! Love this!

Here are the six tubs I was able to get organized in a surprisingly short amount of time, while my children were playing so well together. After being snowed in for such a long time they were starting to wear on each other's nerves but they've had a break, gone out of the house and played and now enjoy playing together again... for a while! Maybe I can get the other two tubs filled and who knows; maybe I can pick up a few more tubs, too! Thanks for hanging out with me today! I hope you will share your organizing tips with me! The power to change...

Hey, everyone!

At the start of each new year, I am invigorated! I want to wipe the slate clean, start fresh and vow to get organized, shed some pounds, eliminate our debt, and a lot of other things that I put in a notebook and struggle ALL year to accomplish! By the year's end I am exhausted, frustrated and left feeling defeated! However, there is hope for people like me who want to KEEP their New Year's Resolutions!!

This is one lady you MUST get to know! It really doesn't matter if you are a neat freak and have everything in your life in perfect order or if you are like me and struggle with the same mundane tasks day after day! FlyLady is a real person who has been there and she has sage advice, tips and strategies to get your life back on track! I am ready to start again, (yes, I said AGAIN), with the FlyLady system. Many of the lessons I learned have stuck with me but it doesn't hurt to be reminded that I really can do it 15 minutes at a time!
My BFF, Heather, and I are going to start Weight Watchers! This is NOT my first time to join (ahem!) but that is okay because I am sharing it here on my blog, so that is even MORE incentive to stick with it and keep going! My husband's mom got him a gym membership for his birthday/Christmas with a personal trainer and nutrition consult. He has been doing so well and I am really proud of him! It's amazing how it has changed his physical appearance but also his mindset and attitude! Let me tell you that I am LOVING it! He plays in the floor with Javan, he picks Kadesia up and has her laughing and carrying on. So, now that he is getting fit and healthy, I thought it was high time I start taking care of myself, too! The kids need the healthy examples and to be honest Weight Watchers is the only program I have ever had success on. I want to do this for me and my family...and with Heather's help, I know I can do it!
Do you know this guy? He is one funny dude!! LOVE him! I work with a wonderful nurse on OB and she told me what radio station he is on and when to listen to him and I am SOOOO glad she did because even though she warned me about the bad reception, I was still able to hear most of the radio program! There's just something about knowing other people are in the same boat as I am and it's encouraging to hear how they are jumping ship and getting out of the sea of debt we've been drowning in!!! The economy is bad and we know it! Many of us live in an area where unemployment rates have skyrocketed and we're included in that! My husband doesn't even have a call back date!! We're just hoping and praying it's soon but we are determined to make this our best year yet! We've signed up for Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University and will start our 12 week program tomorrow night. I am very excited that we are going to be doing something about this weight that is pressing us down!!!

INSPIRATION STATION

Hey, everyone!!

This is the LAST day of 2009! I am READY for a NEW year with FRESH starts and new BEGINNINGS! Each year I make some resolutions and hope to accomplish a long list of goals but one of them I intend to keep is becoming more organized with my craft supplies! After a decade of scrapbooking and now stamping I have a lot of supplies! Over the years I have accumulated a LOT of things and it can get overwhelming to create cards and scrapbook pages when I can't find what I need! That is what I LOVE about this idea I found on Michelle Wooderson's blog! It's called an INSPIRATION STATION and you can read all about that HERE. Michelle has put together an Inspiration Station that totally blows me away! I love it! I mean, how kewl is that? A station in your craft space to inspire creativity!! This is my first attempt at creating one but here is a look at mine:
Tags from More Mimi (paper collection from The Angel Company), miscellaneous wood mounted stamps...some of which I have dismounted so I could use them with my creative cling, a stamp set from other companies including TAC and even included a little bling that I'd love to use for some projects coming up!

Here are some current TAC stamp sets that I store in CD cases! I love storing them like this. The wood mounted stamp is one I picked up at a craft store.
The So Sweet unmounted stamp is very well loved! I scrub it but that is as clean as I can get it. It's a favorite one for sure! The buttons are red and pink and I put them together in a clam shell case from The Angel Company. I love that I can easily see what I have! The little treat holder was so much fun to make! I have a couple of More Mimi tags...these are all double sided so I have twice the options for the price of one! LOVE THAT!

Who doesn't love ribbon, right? Look at all those yummy colors and designs! I am very excited about having my Bow-Easy now so I can create beautiful bows with these beautiful ribbons!! I'm having my brother over and we're going to just chill out at home, eat some finger foods, some Taco Soup, play games, let everyone beat me on the Wii....and ring in the New Year at home, where it's safe! Mission PHOTO Organization!

Hey, everyone!

What I am about to show you is not very pretty! But I wanted you to see how I spent part of my FREE time. I was home alone yesterday for most of the day and I felt like a ping pong ball, just doing a few things but not really knowing what to do or anything because I am so used to hearing MOMMY! MOMMY! all day long or Bridgett do you know where... is? Mom Javan is pinching me! Baby need a dink! There was complete silence! It was wonderful for a little bit and then I missed my family!!!!!!!

So what to do? Why organize of course! My friends Christina and Amber chatted with me while I shared my progress with them! Thanks guys!

Here is how it started:

I scrap in chronological order and so I had to sort the photos into three piles: one for the family album, one for Kadesia's album and one for Javan's. I made progress!

These three baggies are all I have left to sort by date!

I had ton of stuff in this blue rubbermaid tote. I was dreading going through it. I even found part of Javan's toy train track in it! LOL But fortunately I had done a lot of sorting before and look how well it came together in just a short time:
Now once I get those last three baggies organized by year I will finish filling up my CM Photo Storage box and my Cropper Hopper Photo Storage box that holds 2,000 photos. It will be great to have it all inside two small units. My goal is to scrapbook every single day in October, right Christina?

That's all for today! I hope you will work on something you have been meaning to do for a while now. You never know, it may not be as bad as you think once you get started.
