From hideous to Well, hello!

Hey everyone!!

It's another  here in southern Indiana. I have a really great website to share with you today. It's the Refashionista! Have you heard of her? If not, you MUST check her blog out after you finish reading this post! Seriously, you will be amazed at her mad refashioning skills! Her claim to fame? "I'll change the way you think about fashion." She is not kidding!!!

Like most everything else I share here on this blog, I found her on Pinterest. I just love that place! I told you it's a great place to visit!! So I was intrigued by reading that she takes clothing that someone else doesn't want anymore... (holes, stained, damaged) and she buys them for fifty cents or a buck ... sometimes they are just given to her for free, and she transforms them into creations I had no idea was even possible from such a mess of material!

Even if you do not want to learn how to sew, or alter your own clothes, it is definitely a great blog to check out. She has such a big heart. She donated cat nip toys to her favorite animal shelter that she made from one of her least favorite items found in clothing...shoulder pads! Yeah, she did!! She even spent a whole year creating fabulous pieces for an organization that helps women in need. I love that! You can read all about that on her bio page. I think that is a pretty selfless thing to do and my hat is off to her!

Thanks to her my list of  MUST DO sewing projects certainly has grown. You may find yourself looking at your wardrobe in a brand new way, as well. Just another blog to prove one man's trash is truly this girl's treasure!!!

Time for a tutorial!!!

Hey everyone!

Today is the end of my first full week of blogging. Other than the "technical" difficulties I had yesterday I have been able to post every day so far and I am so excited about the different themes. Do you like them?

I really like to make lots of craft projects, handmade cards, gifts, scrapbook pages, and I love showing other people how to make these items, too. I haven't filmed a video tutorial in a while. My craft room/laundry room is being remodeled so it's been really challenging to get anything created and posted. However, for today's post I am going to create and post a video tutorial for you all. I hope you will enjoy visiting each week for

Back To School and Birthday Bash!

Hey, everyone!

Not only did Javan turn 3 yesterday (sob)...

...but my sweet baby girl started THIRD grade!

When we signed her up, I took a picture of her by the door of her new classroom. She is on the other side of the building now... the side I think of for BIG kids! Oh the waterworks are on! My goodness! I am so thankful that she has done so well in school, never had any major problems and her school work just seems to come so easy for her. She has been blessed with wonderful, caring teachers and I am so thankful for that! I am praying she has another wonderful school year!

I made a bag tag for her backpack. I wanted to make her something personalized and special just for her! She was blessed with a brand new back pack full of school supplies from our neighbor's church. They even gave Javan one!!! She loves the pink backpack!! I chose some black cardstock and cut it to fit the inside of the name badge. I printed her name, grade and who her teacher is on white cardstock then cut it out to layer onto the black. I took a retired stamp set from The Angel Company that I absolutely love and stamped it in Claret Palette Hybrid ink. Then I took my glue pen and added some Prisma Glitter from TAC. It is so sparkly and pretty! Then I added some black faux rhinestones and some ribbon to jazz it up a little. She likes it.

I raided my "Items To Alter" shelf and found a binder clip, two coasters, sticky notes, jumbo paper clip, and an RSVP pen. I used More Mimi designer paper (from The Angel Company) to decorate the post-it note holder, pen and bookmark. I love this double-sided paper!
I packaged it up for Kadesia to give her teacher on her first day of school. I hope you like these fun little projects! Have a great day!

Chip Clips

Hey, everyone!

We were leaving to go on vacation and I knew I wanted to take a bag of snacks for the 16+ hour drive! I was planning on taking some chips and instead of purchasing the plastic chip clips at the store I decided to just make my own at home!
I have plenty of scraps from my pretty papers I had cut up for various cards and projects. I have several clothes pins, a sanding block and a roll of sticky tape in strips! In just a few minutes I had made a bunch of little chip clips!
I have made a note holder from the same idea before and added a magnetic strip on the back to mount on my fridge. You can see it here. Thanks for hanging out with me!

Kid Friendly Saturday

Hey, everyone!

Today I am sharing a special project with you all. I hope my mother-in-law doesn't read my blog because this is one of her birthday presents! Saturdays, here at Hoosier Card Angel's Creations, is all about Kid Friendly projects this month! Today's project would be GREAT for both big and small kids! Here is what I made:

I took a little pink canvas tote, available at your local craft store, and using my stamps from The Angel Company and our Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad I stamped these images onto the front of the bag. I love having rubber stamps that are unmounted so I could place the bird and flower together on my acrylic block and have them positioned exactly where I wanted them.
The bird and flower are from a Hostess Level A Stamp Set in our current Serendipity Street magalogue. You can earn this set for FREE with any $100 party. The sentiment is one of my favorite stamp sets. It is retired now but I love it and will use it for a long, long time! It's called Treasure Seeker and there are so many fabulous sentiments in this set. I jazzed up the image a little with some of my Stardust Glitter Gel Pens. You know how I love shimmer!

These bags come in a package of three. They were very inexpensive and come in different colors. My mother-in-law loves pink so that is why I chose this bag for her. If you have never stamped on fabric before I would definitely recommend giving it a try. You could practice on an old t-shirt first if you want. You can stamp on socks, hats, shirts, bags, aprons, ... you name it! Hope you have fun crafting for your kids, with your kids...or even if you are just a kid at heart!

No Stamp Crafting

Hey, everyone!

It's Tuesday so that means another No Stamp Crafting project! Every Tuesday, all month long, I am sharing my craft projects that I have created without using any stamps. Today's project was something I had put off doing for a while. My husband found this empty coffee can on my "Items To Alter" shelf downstairs and asked me if he could have it to put spare change in. I said sure. He cut a slit in the top of the lid and then asked if I would put some paper around it to kind of spruce it up! I said sure and then never did! Not sure why but it got pushed to the back burner so last night I sat outside with my Mod Podge, papers, and other materials to make this and here is what I came up with:There are some wrinkles and the can wasn't smooth, it has ridges so it wasn't going to look perfect anyway. I figure it will be handled a lot so it won't matter! I think I like how imperfect is is, really. I used my computer again for the sentiment on the circle. I used 4 different punches for this project. I used whole sheets and cut them up but those polka dots would be a great way to use up some of your scraps! I hope you go make something without stamping! It's a lot of fun!! Hope you'll come back tomorrow when I use a sketch for a brand new project!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHEYLAYNA!

Hey, everyone!

Today is my sweet baby niece's SECOND birthday! I can hardly believe it! She is so precious! Her mommy, my big sister, gave me some letters that have adhesive on the back so they could be stuck to the wall but they were plain white. She didn't know how to "fancy them up" so I offered to do it and put them in a frame! Here is what I came up with:

This is her birthday card! It's all popped up on top! I punched one inch squares using the same designer paper as I used for her name frame. I think it turned out super cute!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Hey, everyone!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!

I haven't gone to bed yet before posting this but I will very soon because I am more than ready! LOL

My brother came over and we played games. Paul fixed steaks for them and hot dogs (my request) for me and the kiddos! We had corn and green beans and then Paul's Aunt Susan had given me a recipe at my bridal shower that I never made before until tonight for Taco Cheese Dip and it was sooooo yummy!

I played Hi Ho Cherry O with Kadesia and Javan. Javan won and then Kadesia and I continued to play and then she won! Ugh! Everyone always beats me at games...except for the new game I bought recently. I forget the name of it but it's a Scrabble card game and I just LOVE it! Here's a picture of the game board...Javan had cherries, Kadesia had blueberries and I had the green apples. You can tell who lost! LOL

See? I still had ALL my apples! I had to keep dumping my bucket!! LOL

I made a really, really, really quick crafty project today! I just thought it might be fun to make a magnet to hang on the refrigerator for papers that I know I will need but don't want them to get lost or thrown away. I had a stray clothes pin that I came across and had an idea! I attached a thin magnet strip to the back.
The front is a strip of Reece designer paper from The Angel Company. The white gel pen is my absolute FAVORITE! Thank you Laurie for the heads up on this! Look how awesome it writes. I am sorry for the blurry photos! It's late, or early, depending on how you look at it! LOL

So that is my first craft project of the NEW YEAR! I have a LOT of really fun things planned to show you but you'll just have to come back and see them!!! Have a wonderful and safe NEW YEAR!

Fall Party Goodies

Hey, everyone!

I have been so busy lately but it's been a good kind of busy! I wanted to show you some of the projects I made for my daughter's fall party at school. This is the gift and card I made for Kadesia's teacher. I used black cardstock, some retired designer paper from The Angel Company, orange cardstock and Premium White cardstock from TAC. The stamps are from the Sweet Goodies stamp set.
I made the mini pizza box with my Scor-Pal and I loved how easy it was to make! I filled it up with some Dove chocolate with fall foil wrappers!!

This is a close up of the card.

We had a guessing game at the party. I had an empty peanut jar so I cleaned it up well and decorated it, then placed 37 pieces of gum inside. The winner got to keep the jar of bubble gum!

My scalloped punches were perfect with the Sweet Goodies stamp set! I love it for gift-giving! The front label wasn't wrapped all the way around the back so the kids could see how many pieces of gum were in the jar!

Altered Notebook

Hey, everyone!

I love notebooks and when Walmart has their Back 2 School special sale it's hard for me to resist stocking up on the notebooks. They are only 10 cents each!! LOL I've always had a notepad with me and since I enjoy making lists, writing notes at church, and entertaining my kids with pen and paper, you can imagine how much paper I have! I recently decided to put all my commitments into one notebook. This would be the best way for me to see it all in once place so I could start getting it all done! I decided to take an ordinary Mead notebook and transform it into something pretty! Here's what I came up with:

I decided to keep the design simple. I will be carrying this around with me a lot so I didn't want to put a lot of embellishments on it that might get torn up. I used Willoughby designer paper and cardstock from The Angel Company. The tag came in the same paper pack! I stamped the sunflower image from Squiggle Ladybugs (from TAC) randomly for a background effect. I colored in three sunflowers with my Tombow marker and a brown watercolor marker I have. To give it a little shimmer I added some dots with my Stardust Clear Jelly Pen. I love that pen!! The scallops were made using my Cloud Scissors available in The Angel Company's main catalog!

I stamped the sentiment in Burnt Umber. The "just a note" phrase comes in the Tag Tidbits stamp set from TAC. I added brown dots to match the brown ribbon I had in my stash!

Back To School

Hey, everyone!

I saw a video tutorial on Angie Juda's Chic 'n Scratch blog for a Post It Notes Organizer and decided to make one for my daughter's second grade teacher. She starts school today so I made this last night. I hope she likes it! Mine is a little different than the one Angie shows but just a little!
I added a monogram for her teacher using Orange Peel Stickles available from The Angel Company. I had punched an "s" using my Sizzix machine so I used that for a template and carefully traced the opening with the sparkly glue! It's one of my favorite ways to add sparkle and shimmer to nearly any project! I used the Super Circle Punch and Mega Scalloped Circle Punch for the monogram layers. You can also purchase these punches through TAC.

Here is the inside of the organizer. The left side has a pocket which I think is super cute! The right side of the organizer holds a sticky note pad and ink pen.
Here you can see the cardstock I placed inside the ink pen is also the same cardstock I used for the base of the organizer. I thought it would be a fun look!

The bottom right side of the organizer is stamped with a retired SOTM. I thought it was appropriate since she is an elementary teacher...seeing "little" people all day! Then there's also the fact that this is a "little" something for her....and sometimes just knowing someone thinks of you can mean so much!

I will share some photos of my daughter with you all tomorrow. It's so hard to believe that she is already in second grade!!! I am crying! Where does the time go???? Take care and I'll see you again tomorrow with more pictures and projects!

Gift of Friendship!

Hey, everyone!

I had a wonderful lunch date with my dear friend Rebecca! (No pun intended!) It had been a little while since we last got to meet for lunch. I love those times because she and I can share our faith, what has been happening in our lives, laugh, talk...and no matter how long goes by we can just start right back up where we left off! LOL It's wonderful! God has truly blessed me with her friendship!

School starts next week here where I live and since my friend Becca is a teacher, I had decided to make her a little sticky note holder. Do you remember when I posted that HERE? Well I had to make a card to go with it, so I made a 3x3 card. I had almost forgotten how much I love this size! I paper pieced the balloon, hat, shirt, pants and shoes on this stamp. It's from the Dear Friends stamp set. All the paper and stamps are from TAC. I used glitter gel pens to add some sparkle. With my Corner Chomper, I rounded all the corners! I love it!!!
I kept wanting to try stamping on fabric and just never took the time to do it! I had this cute little pink tote on my shelf of things to alter and I just picked a random butterfly stamp from an alphabet stamp I bought ages ago. I used my Palette Hybrid Noir black ink to stamp a simple butterfly border. The larger butterfly is from Treehouse Stamps. I got it for Christmas from Ashley! Thanks, Ash! It's super cute. I used TAC Souffle gel pens to color it in and our Clear Glitter Gel Pen for the antennaes. I think it turned out well. Just look at that beautiful blue sky! The weather was gorgeous!

I hope you've enjoyed my projects! Rebecca really liked them and I am glad! She is such a sweet friend!! It's great that God gave us girlfriends to hang out with and strengthen us, huh? I just decided to start sharing those on Sunday, so I will pick up where I left off with the word REST on Sunday! And even though she doesn't read my blog...I want to wish my Aunt Doris a very happy birthday!!!

Hey, everyone!!

I gotta give a big shout out to a sweet little birthday girl, Kyla! She is having a sweet celebration and I want her to know Aunt B (yes that is what my family calls me, LOL) and my family in Indiana are thinking of her and wishing her the very best!

This is the notebook I made for her! Her favorite colors are pink and green so I did not hold back! I didn't get a picture of the inside but I alternated the pages to be pink and green too! I used some chipboard and rounded the corners using my Corner Chomper! I totally love it! The scalloped edge on the pink piece is made with our Cloud Scissors and these are another MUST HAVE! They make the prettiest scallops! I used my Bind-It-All to hold the book together! I hope she likes it!!!
