Father's Day Angel Blog Hop

It's time for another Angel Blog Hop! The theme is FATHER'S DAY! I decided to make a fun card for my husband that reflected my kids....so I grabbed some stamps and here is what I came up with:The purple designer paper is the retired Gentle Beginnings. I love that paper!!! The Butterfly Kisses is from the Kid Praises stamp set (now 25% off on the Retired List). I picked this stamp to reflect my daughter because she always gives her daddy butterfly kisses and her room is decorated in pink and purple. The dinosaur is from the same set (order it soon if this is on your wish list before it's too late to order it anymore). My son loves dinosaurs and I know Paul will like the dino. Javan loves green so I picked some green and yellow to make it more fun! I stamped the "for you" sentiment from the Dear Friend stamp set in our Serendipity Catalog. I love it! It's a great set!!! The "you are" sentiment is from the YOU ARE stamp set also found in Serendipity. Then I put "dad" at the top of the card. It's stamped with the Viridian Leaf and Iris Palette Hybrid ink pads. I used the Scriptybet stamp set for that. I doodled some images inside the letters for a fun effect since the kids are giving it to him. The cardstock is cut at 4¼"x11" and scored at 5½". Valentine's Day Recap

Hey, everyone!

Well can you believe that today is February 15? That means we are past the half-way point for this month! Wow! What a great month to celebrate...love! There are so many ways to celebrate and you know I remember my mom and dad making every single holiday just extra special with little treats and things. I try to do that now with my children, too.

My daughter has given school Valentine's for 4 years now because she had 2 years of preschool, then Kindergarten and now she's in the first grade! This year I didn't want to do the traditional Valentine's you buy at the store. She loves to stamp and scrapbook and do paper crafting just like her momma so I told her we could make her own special Valentine's this year. LOL What was I thinking? LOL

These cute little boxes are really easy to make. I love the color of the paper. I had originally put peppermint patties in these kinds of boxes but I wanted Kadesia to pick the candy to put inside. We picked up fun-size Butterfinger candy bars and they fit perfectly inside! I was so excited!!!!
I saw a tutorial from one of my favorite stampers, Dawn, and came up with these Valentine's for Kadesia's classmates. She only has 5 boys in her class. The other 15 (including Kadesia) are girls. Those poor boys are outnumbered! LOL
Kadesia is very creative. I couldn't just stamp the Valentine's in black or brown ink and let her color them in, I had to use specific colors that she chose for certain areas on each stamp! I was so happy to have them all stamped! She got to color them in and she helped me assemble them.
We combined a stamp set Happy Heart Day from Stampin' Up! with a stamp set from The Angel Company called Kid Praises (T-2686). I used Sunflower ink (TT-186) on the yellow cardstock and Belle Rose (TT-193) on the pink cardstock.

This is a look from the side. It is such a fun little card and I was excited we went with the chocolate hearts because Kadesia got a lot of non-chocolate treats in her bag!

Kadesia loves, loves, loves to play Bingo, so you should have seen the excitement on her face when the head room mother announced what game they would be playing!
Oh yes, that is right! She just won BINGO! She got BINGO two times!!! That lucky duck!

Can you believe the loot? My friend and I were talking the other night about how crazy it has gotten! It looks like she's been trick-or-treating! LOL
Just so you know, I hate to have my picture taken. A room mother came over to me after seeing the Mother Paparazzi (ME, LOL) taking photos of Kadesia and asked me if she could take our picture. Ugh...okay, Jany gets all the credit on this one. I normally would have said something like no, thank you or whatever, but she reminded me that it is important to get in FRONT of the camera sometimes, too, instead of hiding behind it. Now I know I am not photogenic, but I am so glad that she did this for me. It really made me feel good because I want Kadesia to always have special memories of times I spend with her. I love her so much!!!

Do you not love this photo? Here is my entire world in one picture! The kids got Paul a little box of chocolates. It says YOU ARE A WINNER on it and has a race car with a checkered flag on it. He loved it because he is a race car driver and fan and thinks it's great that his kids have motor oil in their veins, too! LOL Just look at Kadesia such a daddy's girl! I love that!! They have the best relationship...and of course she will always have him wrapped around her little finger! I also just love Javan's face! It's so cute and unexpected...like hurry up guys, I want to see what Mommy is hiding for me!
Here's my sweet little girl! She got a High School Muscial card that plays music when you open it up. She loved that!! Then she picked out a DVD that she wanted. I remember watching Alvin and the Chipmunks when I was little so I am kind of not wanting to see this movie. I just figure it won't be anything like the cartoons I used to watch on Saturday mornings and I guess I am a little resistant to change when it comes to things like that. LOL

Javan is trying to figure out how to open his card with the "dee-bwa" on it! LOL Paul finally helped him! This is the WILD FOR YOU card I made using the WILD FOR YOU (T-2727) stamp set and the WILD WEST (T-2633) stamp set.
There was a Walmart ad laying on the chair and "Melmo" happened to catch Javan's eye. It was the Many Kisses Elmo and Javan went crazy over it. He got so excited and repeated over and over, "Melmo! Melmo! Melmo!" He was pointing with his chubby little finger at Melmo and how could I resist? I decided to get it for him!
Isn't this so sweet? Javan's leaning in to give "Melmo" a kiss! This particular Elmo is so neat because it has a lot of sweet sayings and it even sounds like it's blowing a kiss when you put his hand up to his mouth. So sweet!

Well, that is all the photos but the gifts don't end there. My mother bought me a beautiful diamond ring. I love it!!!! It's beautiful!! Did I say that already? LOL It really is! Paul put in a new exhaust fan and light in the bathroom as our other one needed to be replaced. We had dimmer switches in different rooms and I would much rather flip the switch than mess with turning the knob, which then would fall off into my hand but only if I was in a hurry and then it would mess up my nails...it never failed! So he switched all that around for me and it only took 2 trips to Lowe's! LOL I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! I know I enjoyed being with my family. That is what I truly LOVE to do! I also got my friend, Shelly's FunShop order in from the 50% off special. It was really neat to see THAT MANY stamp sets in one box! Cutting back on the clam shell cases saves a lot of room, let me tell you! LOL But I am so glad I could meet up with you, Shelly and I hope your mom has the best birthday ever! I am looking forward to her FunShop next Saturday!!! Well, thank you for hanging out with me for a while today! You'll definitely want to come back for more fun stuff I am eager to share with you.

SWEETIE PIE TUTORIAL

Hey, everyone!

I realize that the tutorial won't come in clearly for some reason for some of you, so I decided to just print the tutorial here. I hope that you will enjoy making this very simple and very versatile card!!!

To start with, we need some supplies:

You will need:
Cardstock: black, white, pink
Designer Paper: (I am using Winterberry)
Embellishments: white grosgrain ribbon, adhesive, pop dots
Ink: Belle Rose, Burnt Umber Hybrid Palette Ink Spots, (from the Monet and Escher Ink Spots), Tombow blender pen, Tombow gray marker, Memory Marker (Hazelnut), Stardust Glitter Gel Pens
Tools: Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Scor-Pal, Paper Trimmer, Sponge
Stamp: Kid Praises
(all supplies from The Angel Company)

Now the first step to creating our card is to trim the black cardstock to 8" x 4" and then lay this piece on your Scor-Pal lengthwise. (see photo)

Using your Scor-Pal tool, score the cardstock at 4" then fold and crease your score line.

Take your pink cardstock and cut it to 3¾" x 3¾" and then punch out a circle from that same color cardstock using your Scallop circle punch.

You will need to cut your designer paper at 3½" x 3½". Cut a piece of white cardstock to measure 3¾" x 3¾" and also punch out a white circle with your circle punch.

Cut a piece of white grosgrain ribbon to 5" and you are ready to start assembling the card!

Adhere the designer paper to the pink cardstock.

Apply adhesive to the back of your ribbon and attach to the front of your card horizontally in the center, wrapping the ends around the back.

Now place this layer on the front of the black cardstock.

Take your sponge and Belle Rose ink spot to sponge the edges of your white square. You will adhere this to the inside of your card. You can add a sentiment or leave it blank for notes later.

Now you stamp your image onto the white circle. I used Burnt Umber to ink up the pie and then Belle Rose to ink up the sentiment. I colored the pie crust in Hazelnut and used my blender pen for blending. The Stardust Glitter Gel Pen was used to color in part of the pie plate and to add doodle dots to the scallop circle. I created a shadow with the gray Tombow marker. Then I adhered these two pieces together.

Finally I put some pop dots behind the scallop circle and attached it to the front of my card! Here is the finished product:
This is a simple and fun card to make for any occasion and I hope you'll make some of these soon! You could even make a set of these cards, tie them with ribbon and give them for a fun gift! I hope you enjoyed the tutorial!

SWEETIE PIE TUTORIAL

Hey, everyone!

I remember when I first learned to stamp a little over a year ago. My friend, Dawna taught me how to make a card and I was so nervous! LOL I was afraid of messing up but she just kept encouraging me and telling me it was easy and not to worry and once I started it was so much fun, I didn't want to stop! I will never forget that excitement and joy at learning how to stamp! I get that same feeling of excitement and joy when I teach my family, friends, customers and anyone that asks me, really, (LOL), how to start creating their own beautiful projects. There is a moment of pure joy when they realize they really CAN make something creative, too!

In keeping with my love of teaching, and to encourage all my viewers, new and seasoned stampers alike, to make something fun and EASY just for the JOY of card-making, I have come up with a tutorial. We'll be making this card today:


I hope you like it and remember just by changing the papers, the ink, the stamp, or even the ribbon, you can turn this card into the PERFECT card for any occasion! BUTTERFLY KISSES

Hey, everyone!

I couldn't make a Valentine card for my son and leave my baby girl out, so I made this card for her! She loves to give "butterfly kisses" by blinking her eyelashes across my cheek. She is so sweet!!! You can't tell it so much by the photo but there's a lot of glitter on this card! I know she will love it!
I used Sketch #2 on page 3 in the fall/winter 2008 The Angel Company Inspiration Book and Catalog. The paper is premium white cardstock (V-290), Brown Cardstock (V-235), Pink 2 (V-92) and Winterberry (V-903). I used my pink Tombow marker from the Brights collection (F-01) to ink up my Speckle stamp (T-19) for the top portion. I then added Prisma glitter (A-287) on top of that. The pink scalloped circle was made with the Mega Scalloped Circle (D-700), the white circle was punched out with the Super Jumbo Circle (D-73). I used my pink Tombow marker to stamp the butterfly kisses stamp from Kid Praises (T-2686). I colored the butterfly in with my Stardust Glitter Gel Pens (F-462) and doodle dots and designs were made with the Brown Memory Marker (F-165).
