January Scrapbook Class

Hey, everyone!

I am having a scrapbooking class tomorrow at my house at 1 p.m. The cost is $10 for the class and all materials are included in the kit. You will only need to bring your favorite adhesive. Here is the 2 page 12x12 layout that we are going to create:
It's a combination of Amberley Grace and Hemingway designer papers from The Angel Company. The other stamp sets that were used on this layout are You Are and Family Is Forever and Little Things. All of these items are from TAC.

The "love" sentiment on this title page is created with the Scriptybet set in Noir Palette Hybrid Ink. I used Burnt Umber Palette Hybrid Ink to sponge the edges on each photo box.
Here you can see the Stardust Clear Gelly Pen outlining the sentiment. I love the shimmery effect it has!

The second page of this two-page spread features a series of squares that showcases the beautiful designer paper in these two paper packs. The center was left open to add a photo or journaling.
I used Noir Palette Hybrid ink for three of the squares and Burnt Umber on the others with the Stardust Clear Gelly Pen to highlight the words for a shimmery watermark effect. I love how it turned out! If you have any questions, please let me know! I am looking forward to Friday's class!

I created some flourishes on my yellow cardstock with my VersaMark pad and the Swirly Gigs stamp set from The Angel Company. I used some alphabet stickers from my scrapbooking stash to create the title. I didn't want to take away from the text today because I wanted each bullet to stand out and each of the scriptures that back up each of those points.

I keep track of the blessings God has given me in this little notebook I made with my Bind-It-All machine. The paper and punches are from TAC, too. I used the "b" from Scriptybet to make a monogram for Bridgett and for Blessings! I haven't listed everything God has done for me and my family because there is no way I could! He has done SO much!!! But I love looking at this book because it reminds me that God loves and cares for me and it helps me to see the generous hearts of others as they have blessed us!

Mojo Monday on a Thursday!

Hey, everyone!

I really liked the Mojo Monday week 120 card sketch! I knew I wanted to use this sketch for a Valentine theme and thought it would be really fun to make an "xo" from the Scriptybet stamp set from The Angel Company. I wasn't sure about the rest of the details. One thing I love about sketches are that you can play with them, use them for inspiration, follow them exactly as they are or put your own personal touches to them! Here is the sketch I used:

I used my Corner Chomper to round the two right and left corners. I used L'Amore Red and Noir palette hybrid inkspots. The tiny hearts are from a Level A hostess set. With any $100 order you get TWO FREE LEVEL A Hostess Sets of your choice from any of three current catalogs we have!! The red satin bow was made using my Bow-Easy. I created a scalloped border with my heart punch. I punched three hearts and lined them up then placed my white piece of cardstock over that.

For the inside of my card I chose the "I Love You" sentiment from Trendy Greetings (The Angel Company stamp set). I hope you like my card today!! It was fun to create and I look forward to making many more Valentine cards! If you notice, I used the red rhinestones that I had out on my Inspiration Station! Have you created yours yet? Scripture Challenge HOLY

Hey, everyone!

I know this Scripture Challenge scrapbook page is late!! I do apologize. So many of you have left me beautiful comments and e-mails telling me how much these mean to you personally and that is so inspiring to me! I took the challenge because I always desire to know more and learn more about God and His Word but I have truly been transformed by the renewing of my mind as I read and study each week!

Last Wednesday I was supposed to post this and due to circumstances beyond my control this is actually the first opportunity I have had to share it with you. Here is my page:
I used the crown stamp from the Circle Sampler stamp set from The Angel Company. It's one of my favorites if you can't tell! I stamped it using VersaMark and then poured my silver embossing powder over that. I heat embossed it and no matter how much I do this I still love the effect! It's so kewl! The Christmas Red stickles I added for jewels in the crown are also from The Angel Company. I stamped my title using the Scriptybet alphabet stamp set from TAC.

The word for the week is Holy. The scriptures I used are from the King James Version. You can click the link to read them from Bible Gateway.

It was so hard to narrow it down to just three! I had 13 scriptures that I had picked out but I really wanted to use these three so they made the cut! LOL

While studying the word Holy in the Bible I found a LOT of scriptures! Some of the scriptures speak about God's name being holy...just the mention of His name is speaking HOLY. Isn't that amazing? Sometimes we hear someone's name and it kind of matches their personality. I've often heard someone say, "You don't look like a ----" and fill in the blank with the person's name. Or sometimes someone will say I named my daughter a black name even though I tell them names have no colors and who cares if I did? I love my daughter's name! It means SANCTIFIED AND RADIANT! That is an awesome name to have!!! But God's name is even better than that for it is HOLY!

In further study I read scriptures that instruct us to live holy lives. Romans 12:1 says: Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. (NIV) So not only does the Bible say that God is holy and no one else can even compare (1 Samuel 2:2) that even His name is holy and we must become holy as well as our personal act of worship to HIM!!!

That is where I have the hardest time. I believe it's true! I want that for myself! I think it is something I have to strive for but I sometimes feel that I won't ever achieve that status. It is hard!

I have faults and failures.

I let people down.

I say the wrong things sometimes.

I mess up.

I have to get forgiveness every single day for the things I did wrong knowingly and unknowingly. One thing I know about God is that He is holy and He is the only one who can teach us, His children, how to be like Him. He is awesome!!!

Birthday Gifts!

Hey, everyone!

Yesterday was a crazy busy day here at the Owens' house! Not only was it day #2 of the garage sale but Kadesia had a friend's birthday party to go to and then the pageant. I am sooo glad Mini Miss is over! I am NOT a fan of pageants and absolutely did not want her to do this but we still had a pretty good experience overall... I'll share some photos with you tomorrow about that! For today I wanted to show you what I made Kadesia's friend! I made this little gift tote bag for her, personalized with a monogram! It's up on pop dots! We sell those in our current TAC catalog and I absolutely love them! I included a matching pen and a sticky note holder. The card is 4x4 which is a favorite size of mine! The image and sentiment is Dear Friend from Serendipity. Happy Birthday is stamped inside using the Trendy Greetings stamp set. The monogram is taken from the Scriptybet stamp set and the circle is from Circle Sampler. These are all from TAC, of course! I used my Tombows to color in the image, stardust glitter gel pens for the balloons and paper pieced her outfit. The skin is colored with my copic markers.

Father's Day Angel Blog Hop

Hey, everyone!

It's time for another Angel Blog Hop! The theme is FATHER'S DAY! I decided to make a fun card for my husband that reflected my kids....so I grabbed some stamps and here is what I came up with:The purple designer paper is the retired Gentle Beginnings. I love that paper!!! The Butterfly Kisses is from the Kid Praises stamp set (now 25% off on the Retired List). I picked this stamp to reflect my daughter because she always gives her daddy butterfly kisses and her room is decorated in pink and purple. The dinosaur is from the same set (order it soon if this is on your wish list before it's too late to order it anymore). My son loves dinosaurs and I know Paul will like the dino. Javan loves green so I picked some green and yellow to make it more fun! I stamped the "for you" sentiment from the Dear Friend stamp set in our Serendipity Catalog. I love it! It's a great set!!! The "you are" sentiment is from the YOU ARE stamp set also found in Serendipity. Then I put "dad" at the top of the card. It's stamped with the Viridian Leaf and Iris Palette Hybrid ink pads. I used the Scriptybet stamp set for that. I doodled some images inside the letters for a fun effect since the kids are giving it to him. The cardstock is cut at 4¼"x11" and scored at 5½". COMFORT

Hey, everyone!

I am back with another SCRAPBOOK PAGE! This week I have been featuring stamping in my scrapbooking! It's a wonderful way to get more mileage out of your supplies and a very cost-effective way to get just the look you want! Of course today is Wednesday and you know that Christina and I do a Scrapbook Challenge each week. We're on week 14 already! The word for the week is COMFORT and I had a big challenge...trying to limit the number of scriptures I would use on my page!

Comfort is such a great word but it can mean different things to different people. For the one who struggles with weight gain, it might mean eating your favorite foods to feel better. For the person who is mourning, it might mean easing the heartache from losing someone dear. Commercials even toss the word around: Lazy Boy recliners logo says: "Comfort. It's what we do." Another commercial begs for comfort from a Milky Way candy bar, which again can tie into the comfort foods. I am thankful that I don't have to rely on a food or recliner to comfort me. The Spirit of God is what brings me comfort and reading the Word of God helps to ease the pain of losing loved ones, heal the hurt I feel and make me rest easy in a troubling time!

The scriptures I chose are: Psalm 23:4, Matthew 5:4, and Romans 15:4 but there are so many more that I love! I hope you will be blessed with these scriptures. Just click on each scripture to read them online!

The size of my scrapbook page is 8½" x 11" and I just used some paper and alphabet stickers in my scrapbook stash. I liked the colors. I wrote out my scriptures instead of printing them on the computer. I had a stamp of hands folded in prayer that I stamped in burnt umber ink. It used to be a wood mounted stamp and I removed it from the block, attached it to our Creative Cling and it stamps so nice now! I colored the sleeves in with my blue Stardust Glitter Gel Pen. The top right hand box has some circles stamped from the Circle Sampler stamp set. The ink is Palette Hybrid Water Lily Green and Palette Hybrid Reflection Blue. The cross behind the scriptures are in Reflection Blue and the cross alone is in Burnt Umber. Do you know what stamp set from The Angel Company I used for the cross? Scriptybet! Yep, that's right....an alphabet stamp! LOL I love how the "t" makes a beautiful cross! I just stamped off once so the color wouldn't be so bold behind the scriptures and I love the effect! This is just one more way you can add some color and design to your scrapbook pages without costing a lot of money! Give it a try and let me know what you think. Scramping Part 1!

Hey everyone!

Thanks for hanging out with me for another StampTACular Tuesday! This week is all about scramping here at Hoosier Card Angel Creations. I love using my stamps to create borders, backgrounds, titles and embellishments on my scrapbook layouts. I get more for my money and these days saving every cent is essential! Here's my layout!


This is a 12x12 layout that I wanted to be a little different. Of course bedtime around is here is a fiasco most nights and I really wasn't sure what all I wanted to do here. I grabbed one of the stamps from the Sprigs stamp set that looks like a vine to create a zig zag border. The title is made with my Scriptybet alphabet stamp set in Burnt Umber Palette Hybrid ink. I love the big letters in this set for titles and names! The journaling is done with the Chestnut Memory Marker and I added a faux rhinestone on the dot of the "i" in swing. I had SOOOO much fun Saturday with Shelly, Carolyn, Sherry and Jama! (That's a full kitchen in my house!) LOL I am going to have a celebration on Saturday, May 2, in honor of National Scrapbooking Day and since space is an issue I am having a 4 hour event! You can come anytime between 10 am and 2 pm to check out my TAC tools, paper, stamps and projects. We are making a couple of make 'n takes that are scrapbook related and I will be having a drawing! National Scrapbook Day Week Long Events!

Hey, everyone!

Can you believe this month is rapidly coming to an end? Do you know what this weekend is? It's National Scrapbooking Day!!! How fun is that? I am so excited! In honor of NSD, some of us Angels at Paper Wings are having a week long celebration of events featuring different ways to incorporate stamping with our scrapbooking! I am going to start the week off with a really fun Progressive Scrapbook Page! I'd love for you to make one of these, too! If you are new to stamping, scrapbooking or both this is a really great way to get started doing both! For the seasoned stampers you can use this project as a stepping stone to create your own beautiful layouts as you embellish as much or as little as you want!

Here is how I built my page:

First I trimmed my photo to 5” x 5½” then I cut my designer paper to 6” x 6”. I used The Angel Company’s Winterberry paper (V-903).

I placed my photo in the center of an 8½” x 11” piece of cardstock. I used The Angel Company’s Premium White Cardstock (V-290). I used the Sprigs stamp set (T-2676), the one with stars, in Palette Hybrid Reflection Blue ink (TT-205). I stamped one sprig on the top left corner of the page and one on the bottom right corner of the page near the photo to frame it. I stamped “our son” with The Angel Company’s Scriptybet stamp set (T-2722) in the same color ink.

I popped out a circle tab and oval tab from The Angel Company’s Essential Elements (A-11). These were mounted on The Angel Company’s Winterberry paper. The oval tab has “You sweet little thing”, from The Angel Company’s Hey Chick stamp set (T-2260), stamped in Palette Hybrid Reflection Blue ink. The round tab has “Love You”, from The Angel Company’s Circle Sampler stamp set, (T-2691) stamped in the same ink. I used a chipboard bracket from The Angel Company’s Essential Elements and inked it up in the same color, as well. The sentiment is from The Angel Company’s You Are stamp set (T-3021). Place on a 12x12 cardstock base and you are done! It truly is so fun and simple to do! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of this layout. I'd love to see yours, too. Tickled Pink!

Hey, everyone!

Today's project is a gift set. The little box holds the sticky note holder perfectly! I haven't given this away yet but I wanted to show you how easy it is to make a small gift that can really mean a lot!
I created this little box just by playing around with different measurements. I thought it would be fun to add some of the Winterberry paper and my shiny satin ribbon.
I am not sure why it appears flourescent but the pink scalloped circle really isn't like it looks here in real life! LOL
The monogram letter is stamped with the Scripty Bet stamp set in Belle Rose ink and then gone over with the pink Stardust Glitter Gel Pen. The scalloped circle is embellished with my Extreme White Gel Pen. The notepad cover is embellished with the Stardust Glitter Gel Pen in faux stitching around the circle and doodle dots on the scallops. I hope you like it! Hey, everyone!

Stacy over at Paper Wings has posted a new Color Combo Challenge this week. The colors are Grey, Black, Red, & White. "For this weeks challenge you can apply the colors through your cardstock choices, embellishments, and/or color mediums just be sure to use all four colors... and only these four colors. You may stamp your image using black ink."

This was a fun challenge for me and I was happy to get away from the monochromatic pink that I had been using so much of. I thought of "love" since we're so close to Valentine's Day and I wanted to come up with a really romantic card. So, here is what I came up with:
My black card base measures 4¼" x 5½" when folded. The black and white paper already had adhesive on the back. I cut it down to 4" x 5¼". I put a red eyelet "LIPS" in the lower right hand corner with my Crop-A-Dile. The red slim panel measures 1½" x 5½" and the shimmery grey strip measures 1¼" x 5½". The wide red panel measures 4¾" x 2¾" and I set 3 white eyelets down the side using my CAD. The white panel measures 2½" x 4" and I stamped "LOVE" using L'Amour Red Hybrid Palette Ink and my Scripty Bet stamp set. The letters are covered with Prisma Glitter, also, for a little bit of shimmer!

Thank you for stopping by today! I have a really great challenge to share with you today. Be sure you visit Christina to see her page, too. This is Wednesday so I am going to share my Scripture Challenge scrapbook page. The key word for this week is WAIT. That is such a little word on paper but when you have to actually put that word into action, it seems so much bigger. I am not the most patient person in the world. I am much more patient now than I used to be and it is something that I try to work on, but I get impatient waiting on the microwave, so you can see what I mean! LOL

For the most part, society has put so much emphasis and pressure on us to be BUSY. We have to be doing something all the time to seem like we have value. I remember growing up and the summer days felt like they lasted forever. My sisters and brother would meet up with our cousins and play until long after dark and our parents made us go inside. Now it seems like the days are shorter and years go so fast it feels like it was only weeks. The waiting, however, doesn't get any easier and it sure doesn't feel any faster.
I journaled about some things I had to wait for recently that were sort of frustrating, and sometimes it was very stressful, but through this week's Bible study I have learned so many things. I want to share the scriptures that gave me the most strength and encouragement this week and I pray that they will bless you, too.

Progressive Page

Hey, everyone!

I have been a scrapbooker for a long time now...about 9 years. My style has changed and evolved over and over throughout the years. More and more I just want to get my photos scrapped and into the albums so the stories and photos are shared! I work on three separate albums: one for me and my husband and it is where I scrap EVERYTHING! Then I have an album for each of our kids...this is their baby books and basically the story books of their lives. I have streamlined the process more now since having my second child. Now I highlight events and activities in their books while keeping all the rest for mine. I am always looking for easy and fun ways to scrap!

I haven't been stamping long...just a little over a year now and so I haven't done a LOT of stamping in my scrapbooks but I have dabbled here and there! It's a fun process. I love it! Of course with any stamping I do, I usually CASE it from someone else. I have never copied someone else's pages for my albums before but with stamping, there's so much you can do that I find it easier to see what someone else has done and then I can do it, too! LOL

My friend, AMBER, told me about Progressive Scrapbooking. I had not ever heard of it. She shared some ideas and photos with me and I was hooked! So I decided to make a scrapbook page like THIS ONE. Mine didn't turn out exactly the same but I like it! I can never truly copy every single thing someone else does...I always have to add something or take something away! So here is my page.
I have made 12x12 scrapbook pages with 8½x11 pages on them, too, but not anything like this...on purpose anyway! LOL For this particular page I used Scriptybet and Hello Baby. Can you believe this adorable stamp set is only $2.98 until Monday. It is a set of three stamps and it's so cute! I love to paper piece the blanket and diaper on the giraffe. For this page, I wanted to keep it simple so I just added my Prisma Glitter to the diaper and blanket for a sweet little shimmer! I also used VersaMark and my Speckle stamp (also 50% off until Monday) on the blue strip underneath the top photo. It made a really nice subtle background.

For those of you that aren't familiar with this type of scrapbooking, it's actually really easy! This is the way I do it, but it may be different than how others do it...I started with my 12x12 base cardstock. Then I grabbed an 8½x11 piece of cardstock in a coordinating color. I then took a third color...this time more of a designer paper and used it for the 6x6 page. You start with the smallest page first. Then you layer it on to the middle sized paper. Last you build the page by layering all that onto the 12x12 page. You can make it as fancy or simple as you want. I prefer simplicity when I scrapbook for two reasons: saves me time and I want the focus to be on my photos not the embellishments!
