More Treats!

Hey, everyone!

I started a new job just a short time before my birthday, maybe a week or two, and was very surprised to be included in part of a birthday celebration they were having for a co-worker who was having a birthday close to mine! I thought it was really sweet of them to do that! One of my co-workers is a scrapper and stamper, too. I love chatting with her about Copics, ATG guns and more! She is a delight to work with and she fills everyone's mailboxes with goodies and special treats for their birthdays and holidays. Just look at the sweet little treat she left for me in my mailbox for my birthday!

Isn't this little box the cutest thing ever? It is adorable!! Just check out the inside:
Kathy is super creative and I love how she made this fun little box in my favorite colors (how did she know??) to hold some yummy Ghiradelli chocolate squares. Yum! I wanted to make a thank you card for her kindness. I knew right away I wanted to use the little girl from the Brighten Your Day stamp set (T3263)! I just love that fun stamp set!!

I used my Wizard (K308) and Labels 1 Nestabilities (K300) to create the background. I ran the brown cardstock through my Wizard (K308) with my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder for more texture. To paper piece her hair bows, collar, shirt and pants I used the double-sided Emma Soar With It Collections designer paper (V856). I used the coordinating Emma Cardstock (B326) for the card base and background. I colored her hair with my Bic Mark-It's for some shine and then her skin was colored with my Copics.
Those shapes make a fun little insert to leave a message! The sentiment says You're so thoughtful! I'm so thankful! That comes from the same stamp set, Brighten Your Day (T3263). Speaking of thank you cards...I created some thank you note cards for customers that placed an order with me. I miss getting to do that but right now my stamping supplies are in storage so I am really limited with what I can do! Take a look at these:
I used my Nesties Label 1 on the front of these, too. The sentiment "for you" on the front is from Tag Tidbits (T-1186). These cards were created using our new double-sided Maggie designer paper (V847) and coordinating Maggie cardstock (B326).

Frugal Friday

Hey, everyone!

Today is the last Friday of the month so this will be my final Frugal Friday Tip! I hope you have enjoyed them! Today's tip is to purchase a heart-shaped piece of Plastic Canvas like so:

Now I do not remember how to do counted-cross-stitching, but I picked up one of these at Walmart a while back. You can get any shape but I like the hearts because you get lines going straight across, curved and angled (like for a square). This one template will let you take your piercing tool and create a perfect line of holes for paper piercing. After punching holes in your cardstock, run a white gel pen, or any marker of your choice along the lines and it looks like you stitched your card! So fun!! I love it when one product can do so many different things!

Now if you tuned in yesterday you will recall that Donna asked me to GO GREEN! I shared a card that had a lot of green in it. She asked me to see how many shades of green I could get on one card. Well guess what? I did it again, only this time the entire card is green! The only exception is the doodle dots and they are shimmery and the flowers are yellow. Here was my inspiration:

You see that little square pillow in the photo? Well I wanted to create a card using that as my inspiration. I got a good start and then got stuck so my right hand (wo)man, Christina, inspired me. So here is my card just as green as it gets:
I used VersaMark on each panel to stamp an image from the Sprigs stamp set. The sentiment was from a special stamp set that was offered in January, I believe. I love buttons and wanted to use them on this card. So here is how it turned out! I hope you all like it!!!

CC49 - My first!!

Hey, everyone!!

I am so excited to announce that I am the new Color Combo Motivational hostess at Paper Wings now. So, today is my first CC Motivational post over there and I wanted to share my card here, too. Every couple weeks I will share another Color Combo that you can play with. I hope you'll join me here, too!


Today's Color Combo is:
Reflection Blue
Giverny Green
Burnt Umber

You can use Noir for your sentiment and white as your cardstock base if you choose. It's okay to add in a few other colors from designer paper, but your main image needs to have those colors (or something close).



Here is my card:

I used a sketch from HERE and then modified it just a little. My friend Christina helped me decide what worked best, design-wise with these patterns. What would I do without her? I am a little intimidated by patterns and mixing them up but I really like how this worked out. The image is from Brighten Your Day by The Angel Company. The sentiment is from Trendy Greetings from TAC, also. Don't you love this paper? It's beautiful! Definitely speaks spring to my heart and I am ready for some warmer temps! This is the Catelynne paper pack and I love, love, love it! I used my Cloud Scissors, also from TAC to add a sweet little scalloped border along the edges of the diamond patterned paper. Sweet Cards From My Sweetheart!

Hey, everyone!!

You may remember when I shared some photos of my daughter at the Crop A Little Love event we went to. I wanted to take the time to share some of the cards she made for me that day! She enjoys creating on her own and I am so proud of her.

This is the front of the card and it reads: Mom you rock for taking me! I (heart) u Love, Kadesia She used the More Mimi paper to punch a heart with the "love" sentiment on it from Tag Tidbits.
This is the backside of that card. She loves the glitter gel pens, too!
Here is her second card. She was a little disappointed that she didn't center the paper exactly but I told her it was beautiful just like it is! She punched the oval and stamped it!
She stamped this in the top of the inside. I love it! She used the Brighten Your Day stamp set. You can see from her note that she felt like she had messed up but I assured her once again that I love it!

Here she used Sprigs stamp set for the inside. She was being silly with her name, putting the hyphen in! LOL She is so funny!
Of course every artist needs to sign their work, right? She turned the card over and signed this work of art! Don't you love it!?! I am so blessed!

First Card Class of 2010!

Hey, everyone!!

Yesterday was my card class. We made 4 cards that I will be sharing with you today! If you couldn't make it to the class but still want to come, the cost for the kit is $10 (plus s/h if I mail it) and includes images.

We created a masculine card because I think they are often more challenging to come up with ideas for! Here I used the Just Like Dad patterned paper, Decorative Corners stamp set, Tag Tidbits stamp set, Premium White Cardstock, Jardin Moss palette ink and Mega Scalloped Square Punch all from The Angel Company.

The second card I am showing you is great for baby showers and can be created in pink for girls or gender neutral colors. You can adapt the idea for birthdays, weddings, bridal showers, graduations, or whatever occasion you want! I am using Premium White Cardstock, Brighten My Day patterned paper, Hello Baby stamp set, Mega Scalloped Square Punch, Tombow Markers, Stardust Glitter Gel Pens, Noir Palette Hybrid Ink, Reflection Blue Palette Hybrid Ink, and Trendy Greetings stamp set all from The Angel Company. I also used a white gel pen from Signo Uni-ball that is the ultimate! LOVE IT!

I used an oval punch from TAC to punch the opening for the gift card.
The third card we created is an adorable treat holder that I saw on Angie Juda's blog. Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so what a great way to make a card and gift all in one for your family, friends, coworkers, school teachers, fellow church members, or your sweetheart! The cardstock is Birch and I have never ordered it before but I absolutely love it!!! It has a really nice weight to it and the specks in it make a very natural looking card. It's great! I heard a lot of great things about it in class and got an order for some going in soon!! The papers are from Miss Moxie and I used the Mega Scalloped Square Punch. I used my Tombow markers and Stardust Glitter Gel Pens to color the image in. Do you not love this bird? It's a Hostess Level A stamp set coming up in the brand new Serendipity magalogue that goes live February 1!!

I slipped a Ghiradelli chocolate and caramel square inside the card. The "friend" sentiment comes from the Beyond Measure Hostess Level B stamp set that you can earn with a qualifying party!! I used L'Amore Red Palette Hybrid ink and my Stardust Glitter Gel Pen to go over it for some added sparkle!
Our fourth and final card of the day was for another treat holder. This holds a Dove milk chocolate heart! I used red cardstock, black cardstock, Premium White Cardstock (TAC), the new Brighten Your Day stamp set available now for a limited time, stamped in Noir Palette Hybrid ink, colored with my Burnt Umber Copic Marker, Pink Souffle Gelly Pen, Stardust Glitter Gel Pens and Tombow Markers all from TAC. I accented the cat's eyes with my white gel pen.

The ribbon is from Walmart. It's tied in a knot on the side to secure the card together. Here's a look at the inside:

The sentiment is from Trendy Greetings and stamped in Palette Hybrid Ink. We also stamped hearts from the Build-A-Background Hostess Level A stamp set down the sides for a fun little border inside the card. The idea for this project came from Dawn Griffith. I apologize for the blurry photo. I don't know about my camera sometimes! LOL

Brighten Your Day!

Hey, everyone!

I have been trying to take on more challenges this year as I create cards and projects. It is a lot of fun for me to check out various blogs and find so many new things to try. I have found that when looking for a new card idea, I have been more drawn to sketches (no pun intended) and when the measurements are right there for me it's a no-brainer! I love that!!! It makes it so much more fun to craft when I am not guessing at what size something should be. You have to check out this wonderful sketch I found on Laurie Unger's blog HERE. The card she made is absolutely FABULOUS! She makes the most stunning cards ever! Don't you love that sketch and how easy she made it for us? Here is the card I created for my BFF:

This card is for some encouragement and love for my dear friend Heather. She and I are joining Weight Watchers together this year and I am really glad she is going to help me. I will do my best to support and encourage her, as well. Of course I just had to use this adorable little image from The Angel Company! Here is a closer look at the shimmery cardstock I used on the card and my satin bow! I paper pieced this whole image except for the skin. I colored her skin with my Copic markers E00. Her hair is paper pieced from cardstock. Her shimmery shirt and shoes are the same as the cardstock behind the main image. I used the striped paper to create hair bows and her pants. I used my R02 Copic marker to create her rosey cheeks and added a white dot on each eye with my signo white gel pen! The pink hearts are stamped with Belle Rose palette hybrid ink and it's from the retired Sweet As Pie stamp set. I told you I love this set!!! Leave me a comment with a link to your projects.
