Day Of Thanks

Hey, everyone!

This week I am featuring cards and projects with a Thanksgiving theme. I don't think this is the only time each year we should stop what we are doing to count our blessings, but I do feel it is very important to be a little more focused on being thankful during this season.

It seems as though time is getting shorter, not that there aren't still 24 hours in a day, but that we just cram so much into one day that our time to sit and reflect on the good things of our day has been squeezed out. I am guilty of cramming so much into my life that I don't always have an attitude of gratitude and that bothers me. I want to change that because I truly have so much to be thankful for, that I should never let a moment go by that I didn't express my appreciation in a heartfelt way.

I want my son and daughter to know how very much I appreciate being their mother. The fact that God blessed me with them, entrusted them to my care, well, it's sometimes so very hard to believe! I am blessed beyond measure with these two awesome children and so very thankful for them. I have a wonderful husband who does so much for me and our children and I have to stop to wonder, do I thank him? Sure I use my manners and I give him hugs and kisses, but how often do I just stop what I am doing to tell him how much I appreciate everything he does? Today I just sent him a text message out of the blue just to let him know I was thinking about him and I love him and I missed him. He didn't text me back because he was working. He said he got my message when I asked if it went through but that was all. But I know that it meant a lot to him. He once told me that he liked getting text messages from me and missed it when I didn't send them.

Who are you thankful for? What are you thankful for? I love my family and even though sometimes it seems as though we are having a hard time making it through, I am just glad we have each other to lean on. What a blessing it is to be together!

For today's project, I want to show you a card I made with the Speckle stamp as a background using our Burnt Umber ink. That is my favorite ink, by the way! I love it!! The cornucoppia and Day of Thanks sentiment come from the retired Autumn Smiles stamp set. I cut the horn of plenty out and added pop dots to the back for some dimension. The Remember, Reflect and Appreciate sentiments come from the My Journey stamp set and the Happy Thanksgiving sentiment is from the Count Your Blessings stamp set. I am using Juliette paper on the nuggets. The scallop circle punch layer was punched out using our Marvy punches and the doodle dots were added with a white gel pen. You can find all of these items in the Fall/Winter 2008 The Angel Company catalog and if you would like to order any of them, please let me know. You have a little longer to take advantage of the Double Dips promotion going on until December 3.

This is something you can easily put together and give to whomever is hosting your Thanksgiving dinner, if you are like me and won't be doing all the cooking yourself. If you are in charge of the dinner party this year, wouldn't it be fun to make up some of these nuggets and place one at each dinner plate? You could just place the nugget by itself if you didn't have the time to put together this whole thing. The card could easily be turned into a place card, as well.

Hope this inspires you to create something today. My inspiration for the card came from a sketch I saw for a MOJO Monday Contest. You have to check this blog out, if you haven't already. Lots of awesome stuff going on!
