Want to see something beautiful? Well, trust me you will love it! I sometimes wonder where I get my creativity and I know that my mom has always been creative, very gifted with singing and playing music. She has always been able to take a few materials and turn them into the most adorable creations! I can't say that I didn't get some of my dad's creativity, too. He is a musician, as well. He is a singer and songwriter. A minister. Excellent at woodworking! Very talented in so many ways and that must be where I get my love of teaching. He has taught so many people how to play the steel guitar. He not only can make one sing like no one else on earth, but he can build one, as well.
I wish I had a picture of the piece of wood (tiger maple) that this exquisite masterpiece came from! To look at it, it doesn't look like much! It is dark and not pretty in the original state. I often wonder what kind of person it would take to discover the hidden beauty of the tiger maple. Look at the beautiful wood shine through. Do you see it? It almost looks like ripples but it is super smooth! My brother says it looks like a piece of silk was draped there with folds and creases.
When I see people working with their hands, whether it is creating this gorgeous steel guitar from an old ugly block of wood, or taking some paper and ink, with a rubber stamp to make a beautiful card to put a smile on someone's face, I think of my Creator. God fashioned me, formed me in my mother's womb. The Bible tells me that He knew me before the foundation of the world! So much in my life is uncertain, sometimes scary with the waiting and not knowing, but I can rest in knowing that He has a plan for me. I may look like the old block of wood to some people. To the world that doesn't know me like my Father does, I am just not really that special, but in the Master's hands, look at what we can become! It is my hope, my prayer, that I will become all He has intended for me to be!
God bless you!
