This morning I sit here at the computer just reflecting on how much my children have grown up! After bath time last night I snapped a few "end of summer vacation" photos and I am so glad I did. We talked about the excitement of a new school year and then my favorite part was when my children and I held hands in a circle and prayed together. Javan went first, then Kadesia, and finally I prayed for them and it was so special for this momma's heart to experience that with them. We are no strangers to prayer around here but I know that is something not every family does together and I am so thankful that we are able to.
They said, "Let's do silly faces!"
They sure do have my heart! \/
Today is the very first day of school. While it marks the beginning of a brand new season in our lives, it is the ending of another.
My son is going to an elementary school where the second grade is the final grade before the bigger elementary school. I am so thankful for him and so proud of him. He has grown so much this summer: physically, spiritually, and mentally. It is such a pleasure to be his mother.
Javan still loves Legos, Batman, superheroes, and YouTube channels like Dude Perfect and a few others. He has a lot of energy and a lot of enthusiasm. His favorite new word is epic. Everything is epic! "Hey mom, want to see me play this game? It's epic!" "Oh my gosh! That is so epic!" "Epic FAIL!" He just cracks me up! He has been trying new foods lately and I am glad because he loves his protein and he loves most carbs but he is not much of a vegetable fan, except for potatoes! We'll continue to work on that! He still loves to give hugs and snuggle but not as often as I'd like!
Here is a picture of my little man ready for school:
Kadesia is in the final stage at her current school as well. It's so hard to believe I have a daughter in eighth grade! I know most of us parents wonder this often, but where did the time go? She has changed so much this summer, as well. I am so proud of the young woman she is blossoming into. She is so strong, so smart, and so capable of great things!
On the last day of school in May this year, a sweet young man asked her to be his girlfriend and she said yes! She had been his friend for a while and she was so excited about becoming more than a friend to him. He is a really great kid and we had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with him this summer. We all made a lot of great memories and he is just one of us now!! They were able to decorate their lockers together and I'm sure they are so excited about seeing each other this morning at school!
I look at these pictures of Kadesia before school today and I'm just blown away at how grown up my little baby girl looks! She just can't be such a big girl now!!
As bittersweet as it is to see my babies growing up, I am so thankful of the opportunity to do so. I miss my dad so much every single day and so do my kiddos. I know my dad would tell them how nice they look before school and he would say a prayer for them before they walked out of the door. I know he would be so very proud of who they are becoming!
I am eager to hear all about their wonderful day at school and I know they will have one because they started their morning in prayer together! Very proud momma moment!
Thanks for letting me share with you today! I am so grateful for the opportunity to share these moments online because I can go back and remember things I had forgotten. It's my scrapbooking and journaling all in one place that I can access anytime!
Hugs,
