It is officially summer vacation for most kids here in Indiana. A lot of parents are looking for fun, inexpensive ways to beat the heat and enjoy the lazy days of the season! I have the perfect craft that is quick, easy, and affordable! All it takes is a quick trip to Walmart to gather up the supplies and you are good to go!
You will need to purchase some Plaid Painted Wooden Shapes in the arts and crafts aisle. Pick up a Painter's Pen while you are there to be able to write on the wooden shapes. Grab a package of self-adhesive magnetic buttons and you are good to go!
Before you place the magnets on the back, go ahead and write the names or words on your wooden shapes with the Painter's Pen. You will need to let it sit for a few minutes so it will dry and not smear the paint. Once it is dry, flip the wooden shape over and apply the self-adhesive magnetic button. It is that easy!
The magnetic button is very strong and easily sticks to the wooden shape.
Here is a photo of all four magnets my children made. They also made a lady bug, giraffe, and monkey. We did not get the owl but it is super cute!
What kid doesn't love magnets right? It's a great way to dress up your fridge or other magnetic surface with these fun little wooden, painted shapes. The kids will want to make a lot and since each piece is so cheap it makes this fun craft even better! These would be so fun to make at youth group, children's church, or vacation Bible school, or even for homeschooling families.
I figured I would share this idea here on my blog, but for those who do not come here to read my blog, I decided to also create a YouTube video. Feel free to watch my video and subscribe to my channel so you will be notified each time I post a new video.
Hugs,
